Really tried to withhold judgment all year. That being said Wiz is awful. Watched him away from the ball on the defensive end and he is absolutely lost. Don't know how a HC tolerates this. He may be a great kid but facts are facts.
Actually, Wiz drops off his man and helps on the defense as much as anyone out there. Sure, he gets burned occasionally but last night he played well in 11 minutes. Seems like someone every game wants to blame him for whatever. He did NOT lose the game.
Not to mention, Wiz had a no-look bucket off his head last night. How many can say that?
NO ONE IS BLAMING HIM FOR THE LOSS! Simply pointing out glaring flaws.

I complained about DW not getting enough minutes last year, but understood there was injury/stamina issues. I am not sure I see the same basis for Clayton? I don't see why he needed to sit 11 minutes in a game like this.
It's almost like Boals is programmed that no matter what....The Whiz has to get his 10 minutes per game. This is me not slamming The Whiz in this post. I get it if it's a game against Buffalo or NIU, but you can't lock yourself into giving The Whiz these 10-11 minutes automatically against the likes of Toledo...Akron...Kent...unless you absolutely have to do because of Clayton foul trouble.

the sooner boals recruits a gary trent type player the better. even someone whos 6'8 240 with good reach will do.
Well we know he's not Trent...but we were all under the belief that the 6'8...240 pound guy that was going to contribute with good reach was Bahamas Ezuma. And guess what...he's 6'8...240 pounds. Where is he? Is Bahamas even on campus? We will never know unless somebody on here finds out through sources. It's all in your hands Cellis...haha.

I wasn't trying to start a diss Miles conversation. More a generalization that this team has NO guys that consistently make winning plays in crunch time.

That includes Miles, but normally you're looking at your best players/team leaders. I'm looking squarely at Jaylin Hunter, AJ Clayton and Shereef Mitchell.
We've had this problem for a long time. Think back to the MAC semis against a very good Kent team during the Saul era. We had the ball with 11 or so seconds on the clock and the future Michigan benchwarmer forced a bad shot with plenty of time remaining.
If I'm remembering correctly, didn't the clock actually expire before Simmons got a shot off?

Say what you want about this years team - our lack of size, our injuries, we play teams tough.

But, we're now 3-9 in games decided by 6 or less points (2 possessions).

Winners find ways to make winning plays in crunch time. This team consistently DOESN'T do that. They find ways to lose in crunch time. A bad turnover, a missed box-out, a flubbed tip-in, a missed free throw etc etc.
The optimist spin is we force teams to raise their levels to beat us, even if it's a level we don't ourselves possess (yet?).

Given how the first game with Toledo went, this one represents significant progress.

Yes....he dribbled out the clock.

And then he dribbled out of town.

Progress is undeniable IMO.

Miles is back as a 4th/5th option who can hit 3s and is willing to drive to the bucket and draw fouls. Hadaway and Sheldon have improved a ton. Jaylin is shooting much better. Our ball movement and assist #s have improved drastically. Heck, EJ4 even took the ball to the hoop with authority a couple times against Toledo that we haven't seen since the injury which is a good sign.

All we needed was that winning play.

You guys are right. That's even worse. Must have blocked the memory due to anger. We played a very good Kent team TOUGH.
