Light years ahead of Akron? What advice do you have for my son concerning all the mailings he gets from U. of Akron?
Does your son have a thing for concrete and steel? Speaking as someone who went to Akron as a freshman then transferred to Ohio, I'd suggest buying him a nice windbreaker because he'll get plenty of that up there.
Go take a tour. It all depends on what he thinks he wants to choose as a major. Polymers - go to Akron. Engineering - go to Cincinnati. Marketing - go sell something this summer.

You know who has a BEAUTIFUL campus? Toledo.

It's very gothic architecture. Buildings are quite regal - at least around the main center of campus. Looks like a poor mans Duke.

And Toledo's enrollment, like Akron's, is about half what it was in 2018. School does not have a strong academic reputation. BGSU's enrollment, by contrast, is higher that it was in 2018.

HALF?! Damn. Is the campus full of empty buildings and classrooms?

Damn really? I'm not up on my enrollment numbers game, but HALF? Tuition increases every year so I'm sure they're able to offset some losses, but they must be approaching danger territory.

OU is down from a 17-18 high 23.9K to 20.7K in 2022 (last update), but freshman classes are up, what is most surprising is regional AND "e-campus" is also down.

OU had 7.4K regional students in 2014, just 3.8K in 2022.

Interesting about freshman class:
- FILM had an 825% increase in enrollment.
- Psychology is the 3rd most popular major, after nursing and biological sciences (which is probably pre med stuff)
- Visual Communication, Media Arts & Studies (and Chemistry) had the largest enrollment drops
- Some of the largest increases:
Exercise Phys
Aviation (interesting)
Finance
Marketing
Nursing
and
Theater also had a 50% increase.

"Spring enrollment at the University of Toledo continues its downward slide, with 13,951 students enrolled compared to 14,363 in 2023. In 2010, UT enrollment was 23,085."

Eight of nine Ohio universities analyzed had lower enrollments in fall 2022 than in fall 2019, with the University of Cincinnati boasting an all-time high enrollment in the fall. First-year student enrollment is down at most Ohio universities as well – with only Cincinnati and Ohio University producing new, first-year enrollment boosts.

This is a GREAT article: Has a ton of graphs.

What I'd love to see are graphs that show only on campus undergraduate traditional students devoid of college credit plus numbers. Colleges and universities currently have so many paths to a degree and programs that count as enrolled, that it's tough to compare apples to apples even at the same university.

This thread has been interesting.

I echo what World B. Freeman asked....and I'm afraid to ask....but what is the status of Shareef Mitchell for tonight's game?

Most of those graphs are only including full-time enrollment.

The graph from OU I attached breaks it out both ways going back to I believe it was 2016, even down to major.

This one is pretty interesting showing a high in 2016. Unfortunately, it doesn't include fall of 22 or fall of 23.

Probably not. The Post's game preview said "everything you need to know" but omitted Shereef's status.

Awful last two minutes. Elmore misses layup to go up 14 and that could end up being the sequence of the game with the way UT closed out half.

Sucks…with the way we shot it…we should be up 16.

Garbage call against Elmore followed by Cochran shoving Sheldon out of bounds on a putback before the half.

With a foul stopping action at 3.5 seconds, why is Sheldon playing for the final seconds?

My gut tells me we’re not going to continue to shoot 57% from the floor in the 2nd half. Going to need to box out better on the defensive end, limit turnovers, and hit our FTs.

I feel like Boals T is either going to make or break us after a few sloppy possessions. Need to respond to maintain pace.
