Don't believe every rumor you hear on here. I looked at the Arkansas State website and they said ESPN+. Was waiting to see if this was confirmed here. Looks like it is.

I posted this a few days ago based on the MAC schedule for Saturday on ESPN.com. See link:

Hoping it was an error and happy that it appears to be.

As we know from our own winter break games, ESPN+ is all about the capabilities of the host school. Arkansas is not exactly the education State, and Arkansas State isn't actually a secondary university in a state with as many NCAA I-III schools as OHIO has DI schools.

So, Kent is the only one who gets a home game Saturday?

The rest of the MAC is on the road in this "Bracket Buster" style thing?

Calling BS on this.

It was the opposite with the first wave in November. I assume it will flip next year with SB on the road during conference play.

I hope after doing this again next year, they'll decide to scale back to just 1 early season series of matchups. I don't think anyone likes the break in conference play.

Unless something weird happened, Kent should be on the road as well. It's not BS.

This is round 2 of the MAC-Sun Belt Challenge. First round was first week of the season and all the MAC teams hosted a team from SBC (Our matchup was hosting Troy). The second round matchups weren't determined until January and were based on teams NET ratings. This round the Sun Belt hosts all the MAC schools.

It was an agreement made between the conference offices to help get a guaranteed home and away scheduled with a "solid" mid, and potential for the top teams to get a bracket buster like push toward the end of season. The marquee matchup is Akron @ James Madison both being top NET ranked teams when matchups were announced. Toledo @ Appalachian St was #2. Ohio @ Arkansas St was the #5 matchup. If we could have been #4 we would have drawn Georgia St instead of Miami.

I believe the conferences plan to do it again next year with round 1 at Sun Belt acheduled and round 2 TBD games hosted by MAC teams.

I would love a win and a great showing in this game, but I am not averse to Miles and/or Elmore James getting as much rest as possible. In the end, I don't care at all if we win by 20, lose by 20 or tie. Getting out of there healthy and some of our guys getting a few more minutes (Ike, Gabe, Ajay) is key to me. We have a big game the following week so if EJ4 is still feeling some pain, sit him. If Miles isn't 100 percent, sit him. Start Aidan, AJC, Jaylin, Shereef and Sheldon and have Ike and Gabe off the bench with Estis in reserve if needed.

The 2005 team may disagree.

That said, seems like AKSt. is playing pretty well of late, incl. two wins and a tough, four-point, loss at home to 21-3 James Madison. Will be a tough out, for sure.

Interesting fact... 2 of JMU's 3 losses have come from Appalachian State.

Anyway, that game surprised the hell outta me. It doesn't look like it was a bad night or even a good night for either team. Just a Wednesday night slug fest in Feb. We've been a part of many of those.

Taryn Todd came off the bench cookin. Has scored 18+ in 3 of the last 5.

I kind of assumed we'd get blasted, a road game in February in Arkansas vs Not Arkansas... we're on a 4 game win streak so I think they come out a little perkier... I think playing on a Saturday afternoon helps our cause, but It's hard to imagine anyone is too excited about this game. We tend to put up a ton of 3's and on the road in an unfamiliar gym with no one to rebound the bricks... hope we don't get buried early.

App State is solid -- legit team to watch out for in March. Definitely wathching the game against Toledo.

App State beat Auburn and UNC Wilmington (first in CAA) in non-conference. Tre'Von Spillers has been a dog for that team.

I posted this in another thread, but he leads them in points and rebounds after leading JUCO last year in blocks and ranking 3rd in rebounds. He's only 6'7. If App State can land this type of player, so can we.

On the Arkansas State side, I've been surprised Hardnett hasn't played more/had more of an impact. He was so solid last season for Buffalo.

We HAVE TO mine JUCO better (at all).

I actually like the conference break and the resulting schedule of the games. Toledo/App State at 1:00, Ohio/ Arkansas State at 3:00, and Akron/JMU at 6:00. Throw in a 5:00 PM one half appetizer (Ball State/Texas State) before the last game and I’m good. I welcome the opportunity to see how the conference might stack up late in the season despite some factors that might skew any solid conclusions.

While I'm not a fan of this game, a win would at least give us a shot at a 20 win season. Granted, I think we are going to need two wins in MAC tourney to pull off 20. Plus, I do find this stat interesting....all 10 of Ohio's losses this season have been in the single digits. We have pretty much been in every game. That's hard to do. How interested will these Bobcats be tomorrow? I think we'll know five minutes in.

I disagree with those who say that this game doesn't matter, and who cares if we win or not. Every game matters. A win helps team psychology and keeps the momentum going.

Momentum is important. I don’t disagree with this at all. I also don’t think a loss here will ruin the current momentum we have. The game in the middle of nowhere Arkansas is what it is. Get through the game with no injuries and get the boys back in Athens and give them a couple of days to rest and then focus on Toledo.

Some who say the game is meaningless will inevitably be complaining about how the team is playing.

And if we decide to participate in a post season tournament but I wouldn't bet on that with Boals. In the Schaus years participating in the CIT/CBI would have been a given.

Depends on the University administration and whether or not they are willing to pay for entry into those.

You will only hear me complain if someone like Elmore makes his injury worse by playing in this game. Get home with no injuries and focus on Toledo. I don’t care if we lose this game by 30.
