Loved the sharing of the ball again. We aren't forcing as much and I love our fast breaks. Wiz haters quiet tonight. And how about the development of Hadaway and Sheldon? They went from question marks to real building blocks. And I am truly glad Reef came to Athens. His big game experience has to help!

Along those lines, only 5 fouls in the first half. Not by Ohio, but both teams combined. And only 2 foul shots in the first half, both by UB. Those are the type of games I love as a spectator.

Wiz was only 2-6 shooting which won't get him confused with Embiid or Jokic but he did have 8 boards and 3 assists.... and only one foul.

He gets more confident when things go right and that makes a BIG difference.

Holy moly that was a lot of 3 point attempts. Mostly a wash, we won with rebounds and 2 pointers.

Sheldon not just a 3 point shooter, he can finish at the rim / draw a foul.

Clayton finally with some action in the paint offensively tonight, but it was mostly just in the form of alley oops. I still think he can put the ball on the deck and take it to the rim more than he gives himself credit for. Russ was saying he has one of the best 2 point percentages in the country. On the one hand that is great, on the other it is an indication of his unwillingness to go to the rim with the ball in any level of uncertainty.

Jaylin his second straight great game, feels like we are getting 22-23 Jaylin back. Caveat being the competition not great. 10 pts / 9 board / 6 assists / 4 steals / 0 TO. Yes please.

Nice to see Miles go 3 for 5, even if one of them was hysterically a failed alley oop. I keep reminded us that he might still be our best outside shooter.

It's pretty wild. I'm not sure what changed, but since conference play started he's taken more 3PA's than 2PA's in all but one game (CMU). He's also dipped from 5.25 RPG in non-conference to 3.4 RPG in conference play. The latter is also inflated by the one outlier game of 10 rebounds against CMU. Blocks are also down from 2 per game to hardly 1 per game during MAC play.

And he had 3 of his shots blocked at the rim. I've never seen a guy his size get so many shots blocked at the rim. However, I will take the 8 boards and 3 assists. I have cautious optimism. Even Greencat can go for 8 boards and 3 assists against Buffalo. One of the worst basketball teams I've seen in my lifetime.

If The Whiz can do that against Chubs on Saturday, then I'll be beyond impressed.

I'll take the middle ground on this.

He wasn't born with the athletic ability of Anthony Davis.

On the other hand he is better than last season. At least there's that.

On the other-other hand, there are lots of even less athletic 6-11 guys in the world. Jason Terry's kid from nearby Albany apparently had no D-1 offers at all. He's at a tiny college most people have never heard of. And is not a starter.

The whole Wiz discourse on Bobcatattack is funny to me. We have a few posters that act like he's the worst D1 player they've ever seen and a few others that stand up to them because in reality, he's not as bad as the narratives surrounding him.

Is he good? No

Is he horrendous? No

Was he over recruited out of high school? Yes

Do I wish he contributed more for Ohio? Yes

Can he come off the bench and give you 10+ minutes a game? Yes

The fact is Wiznitzer is underwhelming because we all had high expectations for him when he transferred to Ohio from Louisville and he really struggled last year. He is improving this season with more experience and isn't the liability he once was.

He likely has another year or two of eligibility remaining (Covid season, injury redshirt?) and could potentially contribute even more with added experience.

6-11 men don't grow on trees and the ones coming to mid-majors often require much more patience than those that see major minutes at P5 programs. I'm taking the middle ground between both sides because I think there needs to be more nuance when discussing his play.

Nice to see you again, Miss Wiznitzer.

- Youngstown State has a 7'3" Freshman from Kentucky whose per 100 average looks like this:
19 points, 15 rebounds, 9.5 blocks

Wiz by comparison:
14.8 points, 13.9 rebounds, 3 blocks

Is he good? No

Is he literally the worst rated defender on our team of bad defenders? Yes

Is he dead last on our team in PPG (per 40)? Yes

Is he the worst D1 player I've ever seen? Maybe. But I haven't seen everyone.

If he was 6'5" would he be working at the snack bar? Yes

The fact is Wiznitzer is underwhelming because hes got all the athletic ability of a newborn horse. He appears to be improving to you because he was our worst offensive player last season and had nowhere to go but up - and yet here we are... our worst offensive player this season. Inexplicably, he is also our worst rated defensive player, worse than last season. This season with more experience he is in fact an even bigger liability than what he once was.

Umm, actually low expectations have virtually nothing to do with Wiz. Rather, the low expectations are due to the guys, like the top 6 or 7, picked to be near the top of the MAC struggling to be a .500 team. Probably best to focus on WHY we sit with that W-L record.

But you and Leon maybe would be better to get a motel room to further your obsession with Wiz.

I think it's because it's who he is. Be careful or he'll go off the deep end yet again and challenge you to a fight on Court, Union or State Street.

I don't think he's completed his Anger Management course yet. Or maybe he got an Incomplete.

Funny how he cherry picks stats on Wiz. Now if he looked at ALL stats he'd see he's 2nd on the team in blocks in his limited minutes. And as far as FG percent, only Sheldon at .557 and Clayton at .534 are higher than his .533.

I get that the criticisms of Wiz go overboard sometime, but this is actually the definition of cherry picking.

You want us to look at ALL stats, but only actually reference a couple. Yes, Wiz is second on our extremely small team in blocks. But it's not like he's a particularly strong shot blocker -- his block rate's 5.9% which is pretty pedestrian for a center. And his shooting percentage is what it is because we don't (can't) run any offense for him, and his shots are all shots around the basket. Again, fine. But shooting .533 is pedestrian for a big.

If he didn't foul so much, he'd be a serviceable backup big. As things stand now, he's probably a slightly below replacement level backup big.

Reading has never been your strong suit, but you do have an alarmingly high embarrassment tolerance.

FUNNY HOW YOU CHERRY PICK RANDOM STATS NO ONE USES LIKE… POINTS PER GAME.
