January 8, 2014. To quote Billy Packer, "the streak is ova".

Way to hold on and steal this one on the road. With how we’re constructed, I’ll take 5 assists from Reef and Jaylin each all day.

Sheldon really helps us spread defenses. Although I still wish AJC would mix in more 2PA’s — all 8 of his shots tonight were 3, he does give Sheldon a running mate to do this. Especially if he’s also hitting.

Have an opportunity to rack up some wins over the next four games.

Huge dub. Frustrating that the announcers did not even point out that Sheldon fouled out because it took me three minutes to realize it myself.

Time for Jaylin to cook. And he did tonight. And wow I knew Kent was in trouble when Sendy was burning incense on the court pregame. WTF

Fun watching how truly excited Miles was when the W was for sure.

Sullinger goes for 30 vs BG on Tuesday and OHIO finds a way to take away most of his steam. Actually thought Gabe did a fine job on the high ball screens at stopping Sullinger and yet got back to his man most of the time.

OHIO up by 11 and then two super quick missed threes, an illegal screen and Hadaway gets shot blocked then ball falls on him and still OHIO didn't fold when most of the lead evaporated.

Man, that was not a good Kent team. Happy with the win but that Kent team is not good.

A HUGE road W, beating Kent means something in the MAC. Good road trip.

Very pleased with how Hadaway and Sheldon have developed. Shereef sure did stuff his stat sheet tonight.

Good to see Jaylin taking the reins as the alpha a few times. His drives to the hoop looked comfortable. This team earned this W tonight - and I hope they enjoy it. This is a tough team. I think getting stops is the #1 key for this squad as they aren't barn burners on offense and don't have a traditional big man scorer.

Where was this late game hard nosed toughness when it was needed vs Marshall? APSU? Davidson? YSU? BGSU? Even with the lack of getting a big guy from the portal and even with injury issues...the record could have been really good.

But the guys are learning how to finish tough down to the wire.

Seriously, besides Jim Christian, does anyone like Senderoff?

And vice versa.

Rob. S. is doing a favor for Christian, who needed three more years to get PERS benefits. He has no responsibilities, doesn't even have a Kent email address. Just sits on the bench and keeps his mouth shut. I'm guessing he's gone after this year. Asshole.

Played like a team last night, which resulted in good ball movement, which resulted in a much better shooting percentage, which produced a win.

Excellent ball movement all around! Very impressive. They definitely helped by missing a few open 3s and lots of free throws.

Hard not to get excited about Hadaway & Sheldon. Sheldon 4 for 5 from 3 in just 11 minutes...he is an elite 3 point shooter. I know he fouled out this night but he needs more minutes. Meanwhile, Shereef played 37 minutes and 0 fouls. With how he plays defense, that is pretty surprising.

Miles 0 for 5, has been really off with his shot...numbers have freefalled from last year. I'm hopeful he will get it going at some point.

So it is clear Boals views Clayton as a perimeter guy when he has a big he feels he can trust. Since Hadaway has been the main forward, Clayton has done almost nothing in the paint on offense. Another night of zero 2 pointers attempted. Can't there be a happy medium here???

Big win to get back to even. Puts us in position to chase down CMU/WMU/BG, all of which probably aren't gonna hold up as their schedules get tougher.

Russ said several times in the last week they were staying in Cuyahoga Falls.
Not too many years ago (in my lifetime and SBH's), a Division 1 basketball team staying in Cuyahoga Falls would have been big news.
There's a very nice hotel there (owned by an Ohio alum) as well as several good restaurants and pubs overlooking the river. Completely new environment, lots of activity. The only candy store I know of that still sells Clark Bars.

Back in the day, the only reason to visit "downtown" Cuyahoga Falls was to see Rocky Horror Picture Show.

Of course, I realize Alan's post deals with the historical lack of diversity of "Caucasian Falls." That hasn't changed all that much. BTW, our squad is a lot more diverse than Akron or Kent's.
That Sheraton right on the water is a nice hotel especially if you get a room overlooking the falls. And back in the day, no elementary school experience was complete, at least for those of us on the east side of Akron, without a field trip to the Lawson's bakery in Cuyahoga Falls.

Per SBH's post, here's a very interesting article with demographic data on Cuyahoga Falls.

https://justice.tougaloo.edu/sundowntown/cuyahoga-falls-oh /
Ohio Football and Basketball has stayed there for many years. Excellent place.

Nah, he invoked the new NCAA Ali Ali rule during the first half and went back to Central Michigan because their record is better than Kent's.

I don't wish ill on anybody ( unless you leave OU ;) )but damn... cautionary tale of the portal.

And it's not even like he went to Ball State to be at home, or sit the bench at IU... he went to KENT to struggle offensively, be relegated to the bench and stumble on a below .500 squad.

Reggie Bass wasn't good last year, either. Dude shot 33% from 2, and 32% from 3. He just had a crazy high usage rate on a bad team at Central. It's not surprising they've improved without him. He's not good.

He's actually been better at Kent than he was at Central. And that's still not good enough to be a good player in the MAC. He was a terrible choice for Freshman of the Year last year. I don't know who votes on that, but they did a very bad job. AJ Brown and Elmore were better in every way. So was Seth Hubbard.

Was unable to see this game. Guess I should miss more! Hadaway and Sheldon are both growing offensively. I think they both probably need to pick up more defensively.

No one is good at defense.

Think that was another recruiting box we didn't check off, because of all the good guards who committed.

This is the truth. In this whole discussion, this is the truism that shines brightest. Kent is not good this year.
