Because it can backfire.  Some PG responses there.  His Twitter page has the non-PG...which border from hilarious to obscene, but all make IU fans sound very upset.

Seems to me the problem here isnt a coach having Twitter but rather a bad coach having Twitter.

Any time a coach who isnt well liked by the fanbase puts himself out in public, he risks getting a negative reaction.

Can Tom Crean tweeting backfire? Sure. Tom Crean walking into a local gas station in Indiana could also backfire. The expectations there are ridiculous and he isn't performing.

If done correctly, a coach can use Twitter to promote a positive face for the program.

Are we seriously going to continue debating on whether or not our coach should have a twitter?

So...winning cures all.  If he was winning the negativity wouldn't be there, right?

I didn't post this to debate, I just thought it was funny in the wake of the whole "Christian wasn't an Ohio guy because he didn't have an OU twitter page" nonsense.  Here's a case where having a twitter page is a public opportunity for fans to vent and display their hostilities towards a coach who isn't doing enough in the eyes of lots of fans.  Isn't that what this site is for?

Absolutely because everything is a sign of the coming apocalypse...if we want it to be.

Really all I care about is whether recruits care if the coach has twitter. Technology moves so fast, I just hope whatever medium the players prefer to keep in touch with their coach, is what he has. Who cares if the public is aware.
