Ohio apparently interested in one transfer:

Robert Morris, Akron, and Ohio have all reached out to Evansville freshman transfer guard Tyler Ptacek

Looking at his size and skill set he reminds me more of Stephen King than either of those guys.

He was 11 of 27 (40.7 percent) on 3-pointers and 0 for 9 on 2-pointers. He only played about 150 minutes this year so it's a small sample. He's 6-3 and from Parma. He played 11 minutes in the game against Ohio. Aside from one 21-minute, 12-point game, he didn't reach double-digits in minutes after Dec. 14, but it was just his freshman year.

I said the exact same thing this morning to mcbin. I also said that if Saul runs an offense anything like Wisconsin's I think a kid like Stephen King would find a niche.

Tyler Ptacek is from my high school alma mater, Padua Franciscan. I hear he is solid and I was surprised he went to Evansville. Too many other DI schools that are just a few hours away from Parma.

TRIVIA TIME:

What GREAT Bobcat came out of Padua before playing on a team at OHIO that probably racked up more BIG named wins than any other Bobcat team in memory?

Canine could shoot the ball with the best of them!  Too bad there was no 3 point line back then.

Good answer.....IMO he was better than good!   A member of my Bobcat all left handed team--likely a southpaw starter....Of course there is that Austin Carr memory that comes to mind....but even that is a great piece of basketball history....

And for you who picked Canine, well they played together so that counts for something.

and i believe kenny had a brother, jimmy, who many thought would be pretty good himself, and who came to Ohio.  Injuries, however, prevented him from playing...

Kenny Kowall is correct. Great guy and also MAC POTY in 1971. His brother Jimmy was thought to be better, but you're correct, injuries derailed his career. I was in Cleveland for business and tried to stop by his office for a quick visit, bu he was out..

There are so many players in the middle of a transfer, some of these kids change schools more than they change socks!

No Bobcats being added to the transfer list. According to Arkley, Phillips told him none of our players were leaving the program.

They can only change so many times. ....you have to complete your eligibility in a given time frame and you only have so many years to sit with the transfer. Taking the one year rule out is way to increase how many schools they can attend I suppose. If you go back several years you see that I have posted Goodman's list and remarked on how it has grown each year. Some of it is coaching change (which kid really signed up to play for Kelvyn Sampson at Houston?) but a lot of it is bad matches and kids who have jumped on schollys with unreal expectations. Will Thomas got quite the rude awakening eh? I have long thought we need to do better putting kids into programs where they fit.

This point is easy to miss in his twitter feed (know I did).  Sounds promising

41m

Right now, 10 days after his hire, Phillips said OU is looking at no transfers. Things could always change, but right now no one is leaving.

I love the word cagey. Most of all because its Urban Dictionary definition is:

"Drawn from the last name of actor Nicolas Cage, to be cagey is to exhibit the same level of bat$&@? insanity as Nicolas Cage himself."

Also, remember that teenage stress is real and can be alleviated by listening to Nic Cage PSAs.

And, now for a definition from a real dictionary, Webster's:

ca·gey

 adjective \ˈkā-jē\

: not willing to say everything that you know about something

: careful to avoid being trapped or tricked

: very clever

And, JSF, a very clever pun!  I liked it.

From the Mess:

“Kendall is 100 percent in. Rodell appears to be leaning this direction,” Phillips said. “These guys are trying to get to know me, and I’m trying to get to know them. Tariq and Nehemias, their situations are going to be trickier and we’re working through some situations with that.”

Ohio has two open scholarships regardless of what happens with the four signed recruits. Phillips will be busy during the late signing period, which began Wednesday. He said he believes he’ll bring in “more than one” player during the period.

He’s not sweating about it though.

“Right now we’re trying to force a relation that usually plays out over the course of one or two years into 10 or 11 days,” he said. “In some cases, it’s working out really, really well. In other cases, there’s some resistance."
