SP will have a better home court winning percentage than JC after his first year as coach and it'll continue to get better from there.

I'm not going out on that limb.

Remember, it's life on the road in the MAC.

Hmm we can hope. Seems a bit of a reach though considering JC has a group of guys that had played together for over a year together at a high level and won a lot of games doing it.

JC's home winning % as Bobcat HC:
2012-13: 16-2
2013-14: 14-6
Total: 30-8
Average: 15-4

Can we cool it on the unrealistic expectations please. Or are you just trying to kick JC in the butt on his way out the door?

About 15 home wins per year and 10 road wins per year is pretty good. I like the Saul hire, but the win totals for the two years JC was here will be tough to beat.

In looking at our last 5 head coaches, we're on an upward swing for average season wins per coach, though...

Billy Hahn -- 14 wins per season
Larry Hunter -- 17 wins per season (but that was 12 seasons)
TOS -- 17.14 wins per season
John Groce -- 21.25 wins per season
Jim Christian -- 24.5 wins per season
Saul Phillips -- ?

1. SP will win more games as OHIO BBall HC than anyone but Snyder (who won 355 - Grover #2  w/192).
2. SP will be the first OHIO coach to achieve 30 wins in one season. That will happen sometime in the next 10 years.
3. SP will have fOUr 24 or PLUS win seasons in his first 10 years as OHIO HC.
4. SP will lead OHIO to 3 MAC Season Champs, and 4 MAC Tourney Champs in his first 10 years as HC.
5. SP will lead OHIO to THREE NCAA appearances, TWO NCAA Tourney First round wins, ONE NCAA Tourney Second round win in his first 10 years as OHIO HC.

Yes - I did print that out and "Save".............

If he wins the tourney 4 times, won't he have FOUR NCAA appearances?  You might want to revise prediction 4 & 5 before you hit print.  I think Phillips will keep us consistently in the top 4 in MAC  which will put us in the POSITION to go dancing virtually every year.  That's all we can ask.

Gotcha - That's the other great accomplishment bold prediction - leads to even better success for the MAC - 2 teams qualify sometime in his first 10 years - and we are one of 'em.........

I don't know whether to laugh or jump for joy with this thread.  Personally, my wish is to NEVER see the initials TOS, JG or JC in any more threads.  All three kept OHIO in the Top 3-4 programs in the MAC and all had their share of success and failure.  Now, it's on to Saul Ball and looking ahead.  I am grateful for everything the three guys above did for the program (none let it sink to a Hahn or Bandy level).  I enjoyed watching each of their teams.  But I am ALL IN for Saul and not looking back anymore.  i don't think any of us can change the past results
