Just more ideal speculation.  But, I wonder what are the chances that we get Wisconsin back in the Convo in a year or two.  With SP mentioning several times that he was sold on Athens when he came with the Wisconsin team here during the TOS Era and with Bo Ryan's son apparently soon to be named an assistant coach I'm left wondering if we might be able to swing a 1-1 deal with the Badgers.  These kinds of connections often seem to help when it comes to scheduling.  What do you guys and gals think?  Am I totally off base here, or does this seem like a real possibility?

Hell, I'd take a 1 and 3 to get them here

Uh, I thought guys from the same coaching tree tended to NOT like playing each other.  So, I doubt it.

JG was the only coach I ever heard advance that postulate as an excuse for not wanting to play OSU.  And, for the record, I think the term "coaching tree" is on the verge of getting a little trite.  No slam on you, just a general statement of my reaction to constant use of this term.

In one of the radio interviews I heard from Saul, I remember him specifically saying he didn't want to play Wisconsin. I don't remember which interview it was..  Been listening to everything I can get my hands on.

I am very hopeful we start to attract someone BIG to come play here... Pay out big. Worth it in my book.

It would be awesome for me given my family ties with Wisconsin, I would love nothing more....

But I REALLY REALLY doubt it.  I think it is typical that hose from the same coaching tree don't willingly schedule games against each other, and it is understandable.  On the same thinking, I doubt Saul will be lining up to play NDSU.

OCF, with all due respect just about every coach I hear talk says they don't like to play their disciples....that includes the likes of Pitino, Coach K, Matta (not just JG at OHIO but X) and many many others.  Whisky ain't comin to Athens while Saul is here.  And, given the current landscape in college bball, I would doubt any Big10 team will show up in Athens soon.  This ain't 2001!

I would say it is far more likely to see a set up like we had when tos was here with BC. The team would go up and play some scrimmages for a number of years.

I would prefer going the direction of hosting Cinci, Dayton, WVU etc. and keeping it "local" yet increasing our strength of schedule.

University of Wisconsin Milwaukee would have been fun to watch too. Saul coached there, and they made the NAA Tourney this year, but it was just announced they have been banned from post season because of extremely low GPA's over the past four years.

I see no reason why we can't get Dayton or Cinci into the Convo.

I have heard repeatedly that both schools refuse to play in Athens.  Believe they're above it.

Cowards

If they think they are that far ahead as a program then they should welcome the chance to come in here and bolster the RPI...otherwise .......all talk , no walk.

They may be cowards but why would they want to play in the Convo and possibly lose?  The same can be said for the OSwho so get on their case!

And, guys, seriously, UC is way ahead of our program and UD just made another big step to gaining big time respect.  Right now, they are both better teams in better leagues.  I'd like to wee 'em play in Athens but it aint gonna happen.  So, let's see if we can play 'em and beat'em on their own courts and jack up our own RPI.

I think Saul will do the go anywhere play anybody (within reason) card.  I look for some big name away game (can you say guarantee) in the future!

If people think Marshall brings a crowd to Athens, can you imagine the Mountaineer's in the house if WVU came back here?  Yikes.

They would be a significant audible presence at least.  I have a good feeling that we could get at least 10,000 OU fans in there if WVU came to town.

News Flash...WVU ain't coming either!

Folks, the landscape in college hoops has changed.  The chances of getting any BIG6 (or whatever number) team to come to Athens has long ago sailed.  Sure, it would be nice.  I'd like to see (any) BIG NAME (you insert it) come to Athens but it just ain't happening (unless we get extremely lucky with something).
