Interesting, Ohio gets an A for SP and BC gets a B- for JC.

Yes, I like it!  Go OHIO!

Other than our A this was my favorite part of the article and IMO spot on:

Marshall

Hire: Dan D'Antoni -- He's been on his brother's staff for years in the NBA, has no college experience in more than four decades -- and doesn't exactly have a stellar reputation among NBA folks. Athletic director Mike Hamrick might have made the Thundering Herd relevant for a couple of hours, but I don't see the program being relevant for anything on the court anytime soon. The staff of Chris Duhon, Mark Cline and Scott Rigot is hardly imposing.
Grade: D+

Most interesting thing about that article is that we are listed in the "Mid-Majors" section and Marshall is not?

some time ago, when CUSA had Lville, Cinci and Memphis it was determined that CUSA, like the A10, was not a true high major but it wasn't what sports writers considered to be a true mid major either. So they ended up with the tweener- not mid major classification.

The 2014 version of CUSA, aka the 2012 version of the Sun Belt, is a one bid league, aka mid major.

I though it was generous to give Marshall a D+, not sure Marshall could have handled the hiring process any worse than what they did.

BG and Chris Jans winning the MAC in front of small crowds is going to drive mad.

I think Jans is going to get BG back to where it was before Orr killed it. BG had some pretty good teams overall under Larranaga and Dakich (won a few MAC regular season titles) but the Orr era was a complete disaster and he drove that program into the ground. Jans will gradually pull them out of it and they also finally have an AD who won't stand by and watch what unfolded under Orr happen again.

Anyone care to post the excerpt about Coach Saul in here?  Maybe for Jans as well?

Ohio

Hire: Saul Phillips -- He's a high-energy former Tim Miles assistant who took North Dakota State to a pair of NCAA tournament appearances in 2007 and 2014. Phillips was 118-71 in his tenure, and he was a tremendous get for the Bobcats, who had to replace Jim Christian.
Grade: A

Bowling Green

Hire: Chris Jans -- He has been Gregg Marshall's right-hand man in Wichita throughout the Shockers' recent run. He is a relentless recruiter who has also been a successful head coach at a couple of junior college stops.
Grade: B+

Boston College

Hire: Jim Christian -- If I were BC athletic director Brad Bates, I would have put a four-year contract with a $10 million buyout on the table to Syracuse coach-in-waiting Mike Hopkins. However, Bates -- with the help of Eddie Fogler (search firm) -- tabbed Christian, which was a major shocker. Christian is a good coach and has hired a couple of high-profile assistants, and he will look to upgrade the talent in Chestnut Hill.
Grade: B-

I could see BG shocking the league next year. Richaun Holmes is legit. Jans willingness to take a shot on JUCO's could pay off big.

I expect them right up there in the East next year.

FWIW, I expect OHIO right up there too... Again.

I could see BG or Ohio winning the EAST next year too.

Overall, the MAC will be pretty interesting.  The whole WEST being good now is a really foreign concept.

Who knows, the next thing to happen may be EMU being good in BB and FB.
The point is that a lot of this has to do with the coaches and some luck along with some good players. Nothing lasts forever, just look at Ohio FB for the most part of 3-4 decades

Isn't EMU pretty decent in basketball now? Not that their community noticed.

Yeah, they were 21-14 this year, that's why I said BB and FB. Again, things change and we shouldn't be surprised that the west is good in basketball, because these things go in cycles .

Reminds me of the quote from Tom Hanks in "A League of Their Own." Let's go girls, dozens of fans are waiting for the game.

I see that ESPN has the BC job as one of the 5 most challenging for new coaches. He'll have his hands full, but I think he'll get them acceptable in a few years. It's going to be an uphill battle. They did call him an "outstanding " new coach.
