The logo is supposed to be flying D but some see it differently:

It's not real good. And until I see the word Dayton on the court, I could have easily, EASILY, attributed it to Duquesne. Modernized Olde English D. Check. Triangle. Check.

When I saw this thread title, I thought it was about O$U suing Dayton for a logo making fun of their basketball team.  You know, something like proclaiming themselves the best basketball team in the State of Ohio.  That would require using the word "State" and "Ohio" together in the same sentence and O$U's lawyers might get a bit edgy about such blatant attempts to infringe on their trademarks.  Plus when did they get permission to refer to just one old tournament game rather than bow and scrape in front of A&M's obviously more impressive "total body of work" ?

Add an identical blue triangle to the other side of the D and you have a nifty logo. A nod to the old Air Force logos.
