Today's zen thought o' the day:

If you build a seat, but nobody ever sits in it, is it still a chair?

This has been the zen thought o' the day brought to you by Millett Hall - where nobody has gone since circa 1997

My high school graduation was in Millett Hall.  Granted I went to a D1 high school but I think that there were easily more people in attendance then than at an OU-Miami basketball game I went to recently.

It'd be nice if a similar picture would come from The Convo.

Agreed, but it is my understanding that we are replacing a number of seats in the Convo also.  I'm just not sure if it will be done this year or next.

I think it's all the seats that will be replaced in the Convo.  Just frustrating that it's not happening this year.  I think that's where JSF is going with his remark.

Speaking of comfort, the plan may be to replace the Convo seats with plastic ones when the switch is made.  Sounds like it would be a cheapening of the venue's look.

I prefer plastic, wood or metal seats over fabric. I just sit there thinking about all those sweaty backs and that they've probably NEVER been thoroughly cleaned. Since about 1968.

The nice thing about Millett's old color scheme was if someone puked on the seats, it wouldn't show.

Why wouldn't they remove the carpet while installing new seats at Millett?

What a waste of money at Millett. Why don't they just dust off the seats-they couldn't be worn out from people sitting on them.

The backs of the Convo seating is plastic, not fabric.

no lost cookies here.  Did get thrown out of a bar in Oxford.  They have no sense of humor when it comes to condiments.

Old gal needs some work. Walked around yesterday and took a good look. Outside is getting some TLC and new lights are interesting. Seats are high on the priority list. Everywhere you look they are crying for attention

Every other school in the MAC would love the problem of worn-out arena seats.

I'm glad they're being redone next year, but I'll miss the cushions.

are you thinking Volleyball/basketball campers/parents/players/coaches are not slobs? They are probably the least invested bunches that go through the Convo. Team camps at Xavier , Balls, Anderson and such I have attended have left the place trashed. AAU tourneys are way worse....as I am sure you already know.

This is something I agree with.  Convo seats are the most comfy arena/stadium seats I've sat in.  I'll be interested in buying a couple if they should sell 'em in the future.

So if they're less comfortable, people will be more willing to stand?
