nbadraft.net, the site I trust the most for NBA draft news, currently projects that Caris Levert will be drafted 6th overall by the LA Lakers in 2015.

I totally get what Shab is saying and feel the same. An untimely coaching change ending up costing us a player that will now be an NBA lottery pick...You can throw all kinds of "good for him" or "We're happy where we are at" or "yeah but then we got player X" or "you can't dwell on what could have been" at me and that's fine...but it still stings.

I am curious what kind of odds I could get on Maurice Ndour being drafted higher than Caris Levert.

I -could- see it happening. I'm not sure I buy Levert as a lottery talent. That site predicts very well most of the time, but they have laid some eggs on some picks. I remember at one point they predicted that Hassan Whiteside would go number one overall if he stayed at Marshall one more year.

Last I heard Whiteside was selling cars in Pikeville, KY, and dominating the local playgrounds along with J.R. Van Hoose.

Any word on if Tamar Slay was on that playground too, or is he teaming up across town with Ronald Blackshear?

I saw Tamar Slay in Huntington as he was in town for the Ohio at Marshall football game. Was inducted into the Herd Hall of Fame.

I will give you whatever odds you'd like, and remember, house wins all ties. $100

Leaving yourself open to infinite loses leaves me skeptical of your ability to pay up.

Even billionaire Dan Gilbert felt it was necessary to get insurance on his 1 to 9.2 quintillion perfect bracket challenge... Can you promise that Warren Buffett will pay up if this bet doesn't go your way?

This assumes, of course, we would not have returned to the tournament with LeVert.

Don't get me wrong, I like Maurice Ndour. But, I really doubt he'll get drafted.

Yes, the common view is that he won't be drafted, let alone go ahead of a guy who is being speculated to be a lottery pick.

With that said, with Andy Katz mentioning his name and reports that NBA scouts were watching him at the FIBA world cup, the odds certainly wouldn't be 0, which is why i asked what i did.

I think Mo has a better shot than DJ Cooper did. His ball-handling and turnovers will need to improve because he is certainly a small forward in the NBA.

The prevailing thought I've had with this conversation has been 'would Caris Levert be this high of a prospect if he had stayed at Ohio?' My initial thought is 'no'. I think strength of competition is being weighed extremely heavily in this case. To be a lottery prospect after two years, he would have had to absolutely dominate the MAC. Maybe he would have. There are no 6'7'' shooting guards in the MAC. Then again, would he have played the 2 at Ohio? How much better is he right now (not upside) than Nick Kellogg or Ricardo Johnson?

Not to mention he would have stood out here from day one. He was able to blend into the background more or less at Michigan, which gave him a chance to develop. Just my opinion, but I'm not sure he would be looked at the same.

I don't really equate Andy Katz mentioning someone's name as meaning NBA draft pick. And everyone is being watched at the FIBA world cup. But you're right, the odds are certainly not zero either.

Mo was one of I think only four players in the FIBA World Cup that also plays for an American college. I'm not sure how many 18-22 year old pro players also participated in the World Cup. The second round of the NBA draft is all about upside and taking chances that some players will develop. I think Mo has another level he can ascend to whereas you knew what you were getting with DJ.
