Any rumor or speculation as to when this will be released?  If I recall correctly, we were looking at late August for the release last year.

Nope. They fixed that after I tweeted them. The Miami game should be March 6, not Feb. 6.

Disappointed the Akron home game is on a weeknight, but otherwise, this looks pretty decent. As a Northeast Ohioan, I am pleased to have the Kent and Akron road games on Saturdays.

I was going to say that it appeared to be a very student-friendly schedule until they made that correction. Ugh. Miami home game during Spring Break? Not to mention that in at least 11 years we still have not once hosted Akron on a Saturday but every year we play at their place on a Saturday it seems.

I will say that the MAC schedule is great for away game travelers. Kent, Akron, Miami, and BG away games are each on Saturdays.

Bumping the schedule up against the academic calendar-

11/08 v Marietta College = Dad's Weekend

11/25 v Ar Pine Bluff = Tues before Thanksgiving (last day of classes)
11/29 v Belmont = Saturday after Thanksgiving (students on break)
12/06 v St Bonaventure = last day of classes
12/13 Alcorn State = res halls close at noon for winter break.

12/30 v UNC Wilmington = students on break
1/07 v NIU = students on break

1/14 v Toledo = students back, classes resumed on 1/12
2/7 v EMU = Sibs Weekend

2/24 v BGSU = last home game for students, dorms close 2/28

3/6 v Miami = students on spring break, residence halls don't reopen until 3/8.

I agree Shab.  Only 3 MAC Saturday games (1 of which is sibs weekend), plus 1 on Friday night (none on Sunday)...And those 4 opponents are on the weaker side.  Akron & Toledo on weeknights is a bummer.  I suppose one way to look at it having the bigger draws on weekdays helps boost mid-week attendance while weekend attendance will be strong regardless.

CMU & EMU as the 2 west teams we play twice is a plus.  Home vs Toledo & NIU, Away vs Ball St & WMU is mostly a wash.

The scheduling by the MAC is consistently unoriginal.  Just once, I'd like to see the rivalry games all played in the middle of the season when students are on campus.  And just once, I'd actually like to play someone OTHER THAN Miami on the last game of the year.

And Akron gets to play Toledo and Western twice this year. Enjoy, Zippy.

Wow.

Last year, one could argue our crossover schedule played a large factor in missing a bye to the MAC semifinals. This year, it should work the exact opposite.

2/18/15 is my house divided game in Kalamazoo.  I'll do my best to be there with my cute, loving, overall wonderful but regrettably Bronco degree-ed wife!

I like the schedule. I do. But outside of the Hawaii tourney, the team will not make it west of Indiana.

Why is Dad's weekend so early? Is this because of the move to semesters? IIRC, Dad's weekend was always a huge draw during MAC play. Having Dad's weekend for the Marietta game is lame.

Living out of state, I haven't been to an Ohio home basketball game in years. Given this schedule, what do you think is the best Saturday game to attend to get a good opponent and big, lively crowd?

I believe they've put Dad's weekend in one semester, and Mom's in the other semester.  I agree, it would be nice to have Dad's weekend for a "better" home game.  I'd like to think there could be some communication about that between the university and athletics, but my gut feeling is that there is not.  Of course scheduling for hoops is such a difficult thing.  We'd all like to see the Belmont game be sometime other than Thanksgiving weekend for the sake of having students present.

One beef I do have, is the MAC as a whole not working their schedules around having students on campus.  I've been against the 18 game conference schedule from the outset, and part of the reason is that 2-3 conference games get played when students are on breaks.  My feeling is that The MAC has the ability, by way of going back to 16 games, and how they schedule games, to avoid this.  Combine that with not scheduling the best matchups on the weekends that you're going to have potential ESPNU slots, and I have a tough time understanding the conference portion of the schedule.

Thanks! Weather permitting, I am determined to make it to a game in Athens this season. Usually, we come for a football game each season but we're not doing that this year because it's too difficult to find hotel rooms. Going to go to the football games at UK and Western Michigan instead. Gotta get my Athens fix during basketball season this year!

One route you might try for football season is finding a cabin in the Hocking Hills area.  The lack of available rooms for football is quite surprising for me too.

How did we get lucky enough to host Toledo again this year and not have to go there after hosting them last year? Thanks you MAC.

Highly recommend this route if you have a sober driver - lots of great options and the Nelsonville bypass makes getting into Athens a breeze.

Mark me down in the 'disappointed' column.  Very underwhelming schedule.
