1:20 mark - Wadly puts the ball on the ground and takes it into the paint for a shot.

1:40 mark - Wadly slams one down on fast break basket.

If that is indicative...

Can I play for Saul?
Jeesh...not sure how you can't love the energy and personality.
It's a new attitude on the bench...thank goodness.

Observations: Love that the video showed Bean with that midrange pull up. Love Wadley's movement. Put a great move on Mo with the fade in the lane and if he can run the court like he showed..WHAM! Love Simmons on the wrap around dribble. Man, next year with Kenny, Jaaron, Treg and Tony..and the other returnees...holy crap. And Laster's 3-pointer with Taylor on him at the end..fantastic!

Last couple years a "need" fairly well recognized on here is a real "slasher". SP might have seen the potential we have this year for that. With Campbell in the post - couple ball handler's on the court as well, that opens up the potential for that slasher to be a 6'9" beast - Nature Boy.......

This kool aid seemed very strong.

I am starting to believe this team could be very special.

It's kind of sad that football season has made me visit the basketball page way too much in October but I have to admit, I wouldn't even complain if the Athletic Department made a video a week of practice. I know it's just practice but man, does Wadley look active. And seriously, did anyone notice how killer that Jaaron Simmons behind the back move was with Kaminski picking at the top of the key? If Kaminski doesn't get his waiver that second team might give the first team a run for its money. I just hope Khari pans out. If he even can play minutes and give us 4 pts and 4 boards a game that would be great. Although it looks like Laster might be a steal!

The practice looks set up to be a five on five to observe the players mechanics over a teaching session. Saul hands on with the players more so than X's and O's. He doesn't seem like a guy that will tolerate inconsistent play from everyone for very long. Some coaches look at players like a statistic and can live with poor performances if they stay within a game plan.

Good lord...Wadly looks like he's really added some elements to his game. Never thought I'd see the day where he scores over Mo.

Three thoughts regarding this post:

1) I know we're all different, but after homecoming has passed, I'm really itching for basketball to start. I still root for OUr football team, but for me, no matter what the success is on the gridiron, I'll always consider OHIO a basketball school, because that's what we were when I was a student for the most part.

2) Regarding Khari, I know he'd been struggling with some back problems. Do we know if those have started to get better and heal?

3) If we could see Wadley give 10-15 solid minutes a game off the bench, it would obviously be an enormous boost for this team's depth.

Having physically seen him in person several times lately, I think he looks much more muscular/in shape this season. The first time I saw him at a volleyball game he was noticeably slimmer and more trim. Looks like he has really worked on conditioning this off season.

DeVaughn developed his body and game in a fine way. Let's hope the same here.

This ^

I like college football. I love college basketball. Baseball was my first love as a kid but it has been supplanted by college hoops in general and the Bobcats specifically.

The behind the back dribble, drive, and lay up by Simmons in that video was damn nice. Simmons and Kaminski could be huge pick ups if they are not knuckleheads. And, you never can tell with transfers.

Then again, in basketball I always looked great in practice and getting off the bus. Not so much between the lines.... Time will tell.

Renewed by tickets. I'm ready to start going to the Convo right now.

Is it just me, or does it look like Stevie has bulked up a little?

From this practice video I see a strong presence from Laster as well as more shots of Ryan Taylor. That has to be a good sign. I really think that if Harley is gimpy you'll see those two stepping up in a big way.
