Thinking about bumping up my "contribution" in some way. Have had season tics for 20+ years. Platinum seats. Letterwinner level membership.

Rohr Room - why? Great popcorn - really? - that's the great benefit? Various options for increasing contribution, but that room has intrigued me - the "great popcorn" angle has not. Coat rack - OK. Beverages - maybe save a few bucks vs standard concessions, lines, watching service personnel get out a calculator to figure out what the change on a $20 is for two drinks...........

Please advise. Anyone want to sell me on the Rohr Room vs other options?

For me, it is more a nice bonus as opposed to a big reason to increase donations.

You can check a coat, which is nice when its a big bulky winter coat. Grab a popcorn and a water or pop. Talk to some folks. Head out to the stands.

The bigger draw for me is access to the indoor concession and facilities up in the Tower section for football. I keep ponying up the cash for my 4 seats up there (it ain't cheap) mainly for those things when it comes to football.

The Tower section at Peden has my interest also. Some nice perks there. In that case then my choice would be between football and basketball. I'm much more of a basketball fan - we are a "basketball school" you know (wink). Avg 5-6 home football games - closer to 20 home basketball games. I think you also get some "badge/pass" to hang on your neck w/the Rohr Room - but I'm a "We don't need no stinkin' badges" kinda guy.

Schaus and other AD figures are often there before games. Easy access to chat.

I second what JSF and Ohio69 said. Don't view it as the sole reason to up your contribution. Look at it as a nice small perk. It's also a way to mingle with fellow fans and members of the administration, including the president, AD and plenty of other employees. The popcorn does nothing for me, but the free soft drinks, coat check, TVs tuned to relevant games, camaraderie and separate bathrooms are very nice. For what it's worth, people I bring to the games always think it's cool and feel special to get in there, too.

Oh, yeah: I think they'll have beer for sale at least some games this year.

All that's great, but the real reason you should do it is to support the program. That way you won't be disappointed by a bag of popcorn.

I hear you. The Tower Club ain't cheap when you consider it is for 5-6 games. Well, its cheap considering what you'd pay at a Big 5 conference school. But you know what I mean. I am now very spoiled by the amenities. Its hard for me to give it up right now.

Also - for big home games getting to skip a long line to enter the stadium is nice....

Best reason would be to honor his legacy. No Rohr = No Convo, we might still be playing in Grover. Of course Vernon had just a little to do with it, too.

The Rohr Room is a great gathering place before games. Good conversation with friends, make new friends, and chat with athletics people. Drinks and popcorn are nice too.

To be fair, good popcorn is sadly an upgrade to the normal concessions.

Speaking of popcorn and other matters, the other night I purchased one popcorn that was stale and a soft drink that came in a non-recyclable plastic cup. $6.50. My last time at the snack bar.

Was wondering the same thing. We got there so late that we just grabbed popcorn and a water. I'll be looking for the coat rack Saturday night. If it's gone, that was a huge mistake to put in a beer and wine window that very few are using.

Crappy beer, crappy wine, no time to drink it anyway. Was not even anywhere to sit, barely anywhere to stand. Then when go down to seat, if not in the section directly below the stairs have to squeeze between front row folks and scorer/announcers table to get over to your seat. I still don't get it.......but I guess I look "big time" with that lanyard and "badge" w/my name on it........

Wow RS...don't agree wit ya. Overall ath dept has done a good job of utilizing this space considering the original design. It will take me some time to get used to the new open design. And I figure they will get things straightened out re coat checking, providing copies of rosters, etc. Still a good place to chat w friends and ath dept personnel before a game. I get there super early.
