I always love hearing the alums/fans older than myself tell stories about past Ohio games. How about a shot that an opponent made that sticks out in your mind that buried the Bobcats?

Mine is the 2012 NCAA Tournament game against North Carolina. A huge play happened after Ohio came back. Remember the play late in the game where DJ went to the basket and got hit in the face? Groce stomping and screaming for him to get back, and as he makes his way back, the Ohio defense breaks down because of some mismatches and freaking Reggie Bullock drained the 3-pointer to put UNC ahead by two.

Walt scored that awesome layup on the other end to tie it up, but I just wonder what may have happened had UNC not got such an open look.

Also, any basket scored by Buffalo's Yassin Idbihi.

I know there's a Grunkenmeyer shot that most people will bring up.

2013 MAC Championship game against Akron. Chauncey Gilliam hit a pull-up three from about 30 feet and drilled it. No hesitation. I literally turned to my wife and said "That's it - it's done."

The 2005 NCAA tournament game against Florida. After we tied the game we forced David Lee to air ball a shot that went right into the hands of Anthony Roberson. His lay-up was close to being the nail in the coffin. That was a tough shot sequence.

Jamie Mercurio hit a three from just outside the visiting coach's box.

I wanted that piece of floor when they replaced it. So I could burn it.

Got my vote.

The fact that he was a traitor playing for the Redchickens made it nearly unbearable and completely unforgettable!

I have fuzzy memories of Dan Majerle hitting a long corner bomb to beat the Snoopy Graham led Bobcats in high scoring barn burner.

Didn't a Hipsher drill a shot and then grab his crotch and gesture at then Ozone?

Or have I just had too much wine tonight?

You are correct about Hipsher. I think there were also fingers involved.

My most memorable opponent's shot is Alex Abreu accidentally making a free throw.

Ron Harper on a steal break showboat (180 at least) dunk. We HATE Fiami - but he sure got a pretty loud applause from a nearly full Convo on that one - you can't deny greatness (and how could you "hate" Ron Harper?).

2nd most memorable shot in the MAC, and Convo, I have ever seen is the Trent trailing Geno off the glass thunder dunk. I swear the Convo is still shaking a little bit from that one............

In 1983 (prior to the three point shot) multiple fall away bombs from the front row of the stands by Melvin "Sugar" McLaughlin of CMU in the first half. He probably had 20 to 25 points without the 3-point credit in the first half. I think the Bobcat's came back in the second half to win. He scored over 40 points four times in his career with 46 against BG. Charlie Coles was the CMU coach at the time and instead of a red sweater he wore a three piece burgundy suit.

Since Grunk and the Florida airball-layup were already mentioned...

How about one game earlier in 2005? With time running down in OT, Turner Battle hit an awesome step back, 18 footer to go up 1 point. The heart pounding Fears-Leon ending isn't quite the same without that dagger from Battle.

I was at that game. In the 2nd half the instant McLaughlin touched the ball, wherever it was on the floor, we yelled "SHOOT! SHOOT!" as loud as we could. He barely scored in the 2nd half.

Neither will Larry Hunter - cost him his job. I've never seen Tom Boeh so hot in my life.

BG's Antonio Daniels' dunk over Gary Trent in Anderson Arena. The only time I can remember anyone posterizing Trent like that. BG was inbounding the ball just past half court and Daniels got the ball and started pushing the ball hard up the sideline. When he got nesr the elbow of the three point line he had nothing on his mind but taking it to the rim. Daniels slashed and went hard to the rim through traffic and Trent was back peddling and they both went up. Trent hit his high point and Daniels kept rising and he soared over Trent and threw it down. Hard! Place went nuts. Two possessions later there was a foul and Trent was getting an earful by the student section (BG's used to be awesome then, like the O-Zone) and he simply shrugged his shoulders as he stood there. Nothing he could say. It was a hell of a play.

I remember that game before a small crowd on a cold Wednesday night. Sugar is still playing on the Gus Macker circuit and is in the Macker inaugural Hall of Fame class.

Not in the category of the Grunkeshot, but does anyone else remember the shot that a Wisconsin player made as the clock ticked to zero in the first half of the game in the Convo where Saul was on the bench as an assistant coach? As I recall Ohio had been up by as many as 7 points in the first half and this desperation no-look-off-balance three to end the half took the wind out of Ohio's sails.

Good call, OCF...I remember that vividly...
