All this criticism and bashing of Wiznitzer overlooks one thing. He’s never going to be a skill player but he has been a contributor. He has blocked shots and scored points and in my opinion has improved. And a lot of credit should go to the coaching staff. When it became obvious that there was no help coming from the portal, they were able to get the team to work with him and not around him. What this team has accomplished this year is nothing short of a miracle and extraordinary team buy-in is the reason. Wiznitzer has been accepted by his teammates as part of that team.
I would agree with this for the most part and I'm not one to normally be too hard on college players but he was just awful last night.
It was. There are those who like to say he has improved. From horrible to awful?
He does not help the team in any facet when he's in the game.
I really don't know how Boals can deal with it for another year. It's the most difficult thing I've had to watch as an Ohio fan for quite some time. We will him on to just do the basics and it's a struggle to just do that. Two full seasons is a large enough sample size to realize we have to find better.
I thought he had started to look better out there this season, then came the BG game and he looked like he didn't belong on the floor at all. To me, it might have been his worst game in Athens. Multiple illegal screens, inability to catch passes, another turnover when he slipped and fell, etc... He was open several times, and teammates made the right basketball play trying to get him the ball, but those two bricks Gabe has for hands aren't good for catching basketballs.
