As it stands today.... we're the #5 seed.

Would you rather play Bowling Green (4) and Akron (1) right now or CMU (3) then Toledo (2)

1) Akron 11-1
2) Toledo 10-2
3) CMU 9-3
4) BG 7-5
5) OU 7-5
6) Miami 6-6
7) Kent State 6-6
8) WMU 5-7
Ball State 4-8
NIU 3-9
EMU 3-9
Buffalo 1-11

Theres a lot of ball left, BUT... CMU and Toledo is the easier road.

I get what you're saying, but honestly I'm not sure it matters at this point. We're looking up at those 4 teams in the standings because all 4 of those teams are better than us this year. I don't think it matters who we draw, we're going to be the underdog and will face a tough challenge to get a W regardless.

I'm personally hoping for some Boals March magic to get us passed the first round but it likely ends right there in the semis no matter the draw (Toledo or Akron).

Also, won't there be some egg on faces (mine included) if CMU stays hot and in a terribly down MAC year just stays hot for 3 days and wins the whole darn thing. At this point it's not impossible.

Every time I expect CMU to start to slide and say here it comes...they continue to win. It really is amazing...have to give credit to Barbee. It also shows that you can have a complete flip of your roster from top to bottom and still be competitive and have a chance in this conference to win it.

I'm starting to think it really doesn't matter whether we are 4-5-6-7. Will most likely need to beat Toledo or Akron along the way. Doesn't matter if you face them in the semis and finals. At this point, expectations are tempered. I would be happy if we can pull out the quarterfinal win because if that happens....the dream is still alive and you never know...this team can get hot and make everything from the outside for three games.

Boals has yet to lose in the MAC quarters. Others might not think that's a huge deal, but it makes up for a little bit when it comes to his dismal career record he has against Akron/Kent/Toledo.

In the remaining games, Central does not face Akron, Toledo or OHIO but has Kent and BGSU.

Central beat Toledo but lost to Buffalo and OHIO so how good are they really?

BGSU has recent beatdown to Louisiana and just lost to EMU so not too impressed with them recently.

At this point, knowing Akron has two men and a bunch of question marks I'd rather be in a bracket with the Zips than Toledo. That of course could change quickly if the Zips supporting cast starts playing better and making shots to take pressure off Freeman and Ali.

Only a 3.5 point favorite tonight. Weren't we favored @ Kent? A little surprising, I would've guessed at least 5.5.

Bass has had a pretty down season, but he's averaging 18.5 ppg over the last two and shooting 50% from 3 and 57% overall. Going to be a tough one regardless, but even more so if he continues with the hot hand.

I will submit that Kent G Santiago represents the biggest drop-off from underclassman to 5th-year senior in the MAC. Might be due to him benefitting from playing alongside Carry and Jacobs. Might be due to Sendy trying to make him a point guard with the departure of Carry and Jacobs.

Santiago averaged 9.1 p/g in 2019-20 while leading the MAC in 3fg% (44.7%) to 8.4 p/g on 30.8% 3fg% while averaging 2.1 turnovers a game as a 5th-year senior this winter. His foul shooting went from 100% to 92% to 85.4% to 93.3% to a career low this year at 80.6%. Can't blame this drop on not having Carry and Jacobs on the floor for Kent, can you?

Having said all that, watch him shoot lights out in the Convo tonight.

Maybe OU slips into the top four. Then, maybe it's BG or another game with Kent or perhaps a third game with Muck Fiami. I think the 'Cats match up better with Akron than Toledo; they have a tougher time keeping the Toledo guards out of the paint. That's a key for this team, but whatever team it encounters it has to gang rebound to match the likes of Freeman, Agee etc. BTW, Central doesn't seem to have much interest in defense. All that said, let's get this one tonight. A road game Saturday is followed by a big week at The Convo - one at a time and hopefully stacking some Ws.

What an ugly first half. Bobcats forcing up poor shots, committing bad turnovers and struggling to rebound yet again. Lucky to only be down 33-27.

Why do we not look to take advantage of mismatches? There was, at the least, 2 instances in the first half when Sullinger switched off on Clayton, an almost a full foot difference in height.

AJ took Sullinger down low the first time and not one Ohio ballhandler even recognized the mismatch. And I think every other Bobcat on the floor touched the ball before it ended in an empty possession. The second time? AJ stayed out beyond the 3-pt. line and again no teammate even looked at him. Maybe he figured there was no reason to post him up again?

Clayton hit an early 3 and completely disappeared. EJ4 is a shell of himself. Wiz has been awful and Sheldon gave us one circus layup. We are losing this one by 15+....mark it.

Speaking of mismatches, if I was Sendy I would get the ball to Payton so he can face up AJ or Wiz from about 10-15 feet. Clear it out and let him take his man off the dribble. Not unlike what VonCameron Davis has done a few times in the first half.

We are making VonCameron Davis look like Sin Carry.

Shareef Mitchell is 2-12 from the field. He has 33% of our shots at the moment. What are we doing?!
