I get what you're saying, but honestly I'm not sure it matters at this point. We're looking up at those 4 teams in the standings because all 4 of those teams are better than us this year. I don't think it matters who we draw, we're going to be the underdog and will face a tough challenge to get a W regardless.
I'm personally hoping for some Boals March magic to get us passed the first round but it likely ends right there in the semis no matter the draw (Toledo or Akron).
Also, won't there be some egg on faces (mine included) if CMU stays hot and in a terribly down MAC year just stays hot for 3 days and wins the whole darn thing. At this point it's not impossible.
Every time I expect CMU to start to slide and say here it comes...they continue to win. It really is amazing...have to give credit to Barbee. It also shows that you can have a complete flip of your roster from top to bottom and still be competitive and have a chance in this conference to win it.
I'm starting to think it really doesn't matter whether we are 4-5-6-7. Will most likely need to beat Toledo or Akron along the way. Doesn't matter if you face them in the semis and finals. At this point, expectations are tempered. I would be happy if we can pull out the quarterfinal win because if that happens....the dream is still alive and you never know...this team can get hot and make everything from the outside for three games.
Boals has yet to lose in the MAC quarters. Others might not think that's a huge deal, but it makes up for a little bit when it comes to his dismal career record he has against Akron/Kent/Toledo.
