Our Bobcats looked and played like a team that wanted this win over Kent. (Oh....and did that screaming fan (all game) needed to be removed from the arena or what ?)
My dream is to see John Groce / Akron leave the Convo with a loss. That guy really gets on my nerves. Maybe we can recruit that screaming Kent fan to sit behind the Zips bench.

Again, I don't understand this way of thinking. Why would you root against the MAC's lone representative in the NCAA tourney? This conference, more than ever, needs positive results. Ohio does not benefit from a weak MAC with weak conference members.

I'll apologize in advance to all BA posters if this reply leads to bobcat 2000 once again suggesting Ohio leave the MAC for the AAC or the Big East or the NBA.

I agree, if you’re truly a fan on this conference, then you want to see any member do well in the NCAA Tournament. In the regular season or MAC Tournament, I get not feeling that way. But in the postseason tournament, different rules apply. This league has been struggling for over 20 years to get an at-large bid. It probably would’ve have happened twice if BG beat Kent State (their Elite 8 team) and if BG again beat Buffalo (Top-25) a few years ago in the MAC Championship. Had BG won either of those two MAC Tournaments, the MAC probably gets an at-large bid and two teams go. But that said, the best way for this conference to gain credibility and to have a better representation in the postseason is for its teams to do well when they get there. That goes for all the schools.

I’m not shocked whatsoever. In fact, I think the MAC is Groce’s sweet spot. He’s been successful in the MAC, he’s making very good money, and the silver lining is - there’s no pressure and stress to the degree he had it at Illinois and in the Big Ten. That counts for something. He made some nice bank at Illinois, but even MAC coaches are getting paid very well relatively speaking. I’d sure as hell trade any of them my annual salary. And who is breathing down his neck at Akron about the pressure to win??? The media? The fanbase? Alumni? It’s Cricketville in Akron when it comes to that stuff. He’s got his team playing well, he’s making great money and no one is giving him any $hit. What’s not to love about that?! I wish I was in that kind of environment and situation concerning a job, and I’m sure I’m not alone on here.

I've stopped into see John a few times when I've been visiting my mom in Akron. Hasn't changed a bit from the outgoing and welcoming guy he was here and at Illinois. He and Dustin seem very happy in their current situation. He lives in an area with a very good school system and from where he drives each day, traffic is pretty much a non-issue. It will be interesting to see what he does next year with five fifth year seniors graduating.

Bobcats continue to find a ways to pull out a win. This team is jelling for a competitive second half of the season and MAC playoffs.

So my prediction came true ! Groce goes back to Akron with a loss! Now beat the Flacons and get ready for Cleveland!
