I think the acc/big 14 challenge is a complete sham. this is the worst example of tv controlling schedules and it takes away games that might otherwise be chances for mid majors to play these teams. In addition, for either league, win or lose, it artificially inflates RPI, which weighs schedule strength way too much.
I'm confused as to why you think it's a sham? I think it's a fun event and I wish we would find a conference to pair up with to do the same thing. And sorry but there isn't a great public outcry for more games between the Big Ten and midmajors. That cry is only coming from fans of the midmajors.
Count me in this category. Before they fell apart, I wanted to see a MAC vs CAA deal like this. Now, I don't know what conference we'd matchup well with? The OVC? Ideally, the MVC or A10, but there's no chance they'd want any part of that.
While it's a pipe dream, I've been suggesting the idea of "requiring" the Power 5 schools to play two road games every season against the mid-major schools to sort of level out the RPI. In the end, it's a matter of going into their barns and beating them, when and if they'll schedule you.
