I think Quidel Convocation Center is a real possibility. They have a large presence in Athens, and the corporation has been doing very well recently.

This makes it all the more heinous. What started out as a practical description of the sunken arena floor evolved into a rallying cry organically. This change is denying the history of the place to Lobo fans who created it.

I'm not a particularly big fan of change, but corporate naming of sports facilities has been around for a long, long time. Wrigley Field has been subtly promoting Juicy Fruit since it was renamed in 1927 (yes, I know he also owned the team). Most other venues are named for wealthy donors and/or owners. I don't see the big deal. Just as I didn't get the fuss when Jacobs Field was renamed after the owner of the Indians swindled his way into a free stadium then had the temerity to name it after himself for next to nothing. I don't miss that moniker, and if the price is right, I don't really care much what they call the Convocation Center. Everyone will still call it the Convo.
