After last nights game I thought I would take a look at stats. Sellers (balls) and Sullivan (Fiami) are both in the top 20 as far as 3 pt %. JG made running guys off the line and defending the 3 the cornerstone of his defensive philosophy. Will be interesting to see how we are halfway through the season with defending guys who run off screens and are accurate. So far not too impressed by hte way we hedge and how we treat screens or play D straight up on a man.

I thought ball screen D was horrible. Ndour didn't hedge hard and also let penetration go. Thought the young guys, Laster and R. Taylor, were the only ones interested in getting into guys on the perimeter.

It's only a few games, but Sellers is the MAC leader in scoring at 19.5, just .2 ahead of Bean. Ndour at 10.2 rebounds is second in the league to NIU's Jordan Threloff (12.0).

Bradshaw was eating us alive off the screen and I was begging us to hedge on those screens. NDour gave a half-hearted effort on one in the second half. Bradshaw took it to the hole and drew a foul on Bean.

I wonder if this is carried over from Christian. He didn't like to hedge a lot, so maybe the guys who've been here aren't used to it.

Does not matter, Fuss understood the scheme so we should not lose the idea of hegding a scheme. It is so basic in today's screen roll offense. I can believe we do not emphasize it as much but we are teaching 4th graders over here how to hedge the screen like it is a fundamental knowledge basic to hoops defensive principals

Right, but if our guys haven't been doing it the last couple seasons, it's not too surprising they're pretty bad at it or hesitant.
