At this rate I think Chandler will have a better chance of receiving his graduate degree from OHIO before he gets his undergrad degree confirmation pried out of Grambling! This whole thing doesn't make much sense to me. I must be missing something I guess.

Have to admit, I'm starting to think there is something more to the situation. if it was simply waiting on paperwork, Saul would have had one of the assistant coaches drive to Gulf Coast and swing over to Grambling on the way and pick it up/raise hell. Too bad, all indications are he is a good kid.

I can think of a couple plausible explanations for this situation but I am currently operating under the assumption that the NCAA is conspiring with jguymac to keep Thomas ineligible.

You know they can't actually do that, right?

Of course not, but the University can push on Grambling to get any needed paperwork. My guess is they have (months ago) and did not like what they found (e.g., a class he thought was academically viable ended up not being so - we are talking Grambling). We are now approaching Thanksgiving - so the waiting on paperwork excuse has run its route. If we were still on quarters, he would be taking finals. Waiting on paperwork is one thing - that time has passed, finding out there is an issue is another situation. Hopefully they found an issue and he is trying to make up for the class via online/correspondence - thus graduating. Taking care of it quietly.

I think this speculation is getting bit out of hand. We all know nothing, yet we are spinning all kinds of theories, and now have him completing a correspondence course to be eligible. While that's possible, why speculate unless we have some little clue as to what's actually happening behind the scenes. Now, what's your latest speculation on Kaminski? ;-)

My speculation on Kaminski is the same as my speculation on Chandler Thomas. A jguymac+ncaa conspiracy to keep OHIO down.

Full disclosure: I don't think jguy has the brains to pull off an operation of this magnitude. I'm also skeptical that the NCAA has the knowledge to pull this off. That may mean we have a 3rd conspirator involved that I have yet to indentify.

Any suspects?

Because that's what people do on the internet :)

The real answer - is because that is what happens when information is not provided. Waiting on paperwork is fine for a few weeks, but not a few months - even for the NCAA. Look at it this way, if he was coming to Athens to play football he would have missed the entire season. There is more to it than slow paperwork. So speculation is and will take place. Re: Kaminski - My bet is he get's his clearance before Thomas.

totally ridiculous... a body for practice is not the same as having him for games.

Any chance Saul addresses this tonite on his Coaches show? The whole thing is beyond bizarre at this point.

Sent a tweet to Russ to see if he could ask Saul on the show tonight.

Per Saul radio show: Grambling doesn't confer degrees until December, so he will have to wait. Quick check of Grambling shows December 17th date for fall degrees.

And, then how long for the transcript to arrive in Athens? ;-)

thought I would call my old buddy Joe Price to see if I could get a bead on things but it seems the new prez relieved him of his duties.

Hard to fathom that Joe with his quiet gentlemanly demeanor and Notre Dame pedigree would be anything but a positive factor there but he got relieved along with the AD on the new prez 1st day in office. he will land on a staff somewhere and be an excellent hire. He had made strides and last time I talked to him felt like he was turning the tide. Sad but I think they threw the baby out with the water. Hope his replacement carries on the good work on and off the court.

Reading these articles little wonder why Chandler is having such a hard time getting out of dodge. Seems like a mess down there.
