I think we beat Western and we bust Eastern's Zone with Bean hitting monster amounts of threes and we sweep them. We will split with most Eastern Teams just because they're all improved. I think there's no way we don't win 20 or more games and maybe even shock a team like Dunk City or Belmont. I can't believe there will be many players better than Mo and Stevie showed he can hang with anyone when healthy when he took Craft to school last year. If Tony, Treg and Wadley can do some damage inside then we will be solid. And R Taylor and Laster seem mature beyond their years.

In contrast, as I look at it, I'm wondering if my 20-9 number should look more like 18-11. I know the talent is there, but it's a matter of the team gelling, and getting Thomas & Harley into the rotation. Add Kaminski by some kind of miracle, and I'd probably consider going from 20-9 to 22-7. Time will tell. I'm really looking forward to watching the program develop.

Case for optimism: We won 25 games last year despite losing a starter to a season ending injury and suffering from major depth problems following that. We bring back our best player along with two other Seniors who will start this year. Additionally, our schedule sets up nicely.

I completely understand some doubts heading into this year. Lots of new players+new coach/system is always scary. I am optimistic we have enough talent and senior leadership, and again a fairly easy schedule, that winning 20 games should not be a problem.

After I did my picks, I went back and tried to imagine us losing some of those OOC games. Certainly, anything is possible and we have lost some real head scratchers before... But I also think we have enough talent on this team to power us through some of our early games as the team develops and adjusts to Saul Ball. I also think our MAC schedule is much easier. Instead of WMU and Toledo twice, we get Central and Eastern twice. Getting a top 4 seed in the MAC tournament this year is going to be much easier for that reason alone.

Last chance for the next 40 hours or so. I see McKinney and the other mods are still hiding in the corner, afraid to stick their neck out. Shaking my head...
