We aren't as bad as some think we are.

New coach. New system. Patience.

The pieces are here, we just need to fit them all together.

Reality check:

Treg Setty has a history of 17 and 9 vs. DePaul.

We'll win some. No doubt. But our guard play will limit us this year. It just will.

(For purposes of holiday good cheer, I think that I'm channeling JSF here.)

(Or feel like I am.)

There is a big difference between being bad and playing bad, making decisions and making bad decisions. Today I saw two very encouraging things - hustle by all on the floor and better decisions especially when it came to sharing the ball. If and this is a big one, if every player who sees playing time will do those two simple things we have a very good chance of doing well in the MAC this year. If not, we'll have some lengthy threads on this board. Here's to Cliff Notes threads.

Alan, I think your observations are right on. After the game, Bean referred to a team meeting they had and one of the topics was what every players proper role was. Apparently, the players knew they were out of sync and they got together and decided to start to play as a team and maximize each others primary talents. I find this a very positive development, but I'm still aware of the organic shortcomings of this team. I still think it'll be a rebuilding year, but it's looking more like it might be a entertaining and exciting rebuilding year.

One other thought to add to this point of view: I think that starting lineup is our best one right now. I think Setty & Stevie are best suited to be energy guys, and the first two off the bench. And Ryan Taylor continues to look like a great addition!
