Considering the entrance we went through today didn't have a scanner that worked. I'm not betting the real Jeff McKinney any beers this year on attendance. Wish I was going surfing in Hawaii.

Alan, I think it was quiet because this game was thoroughly uninspiring. This was a game we should have won easily by 20+ points, but instead we struggled and kept shooting yourselves in the foot. If you listened to Saul's post game interview, he said that the team was totally out of sync and it was his job to get them in sync. That's a paraphrase, but it's what he said in so many words -- a whole lot of words. This team will get better as the season goes along, and I think Saul will build this program to a new level, but we certainly are not there yet. While a team can feed off good fan support, sometimes fans feed off the play of the team -- for good or bad. In this case an out sync team made for out of sync fans. Hopefully both the team and fans get back in gear soon!

Because no way there were more than 4,000 there - maybe not even 3,500...............

It was quite when Saul SCREAMED "WHY?" after Bean pulled up on a break and tossed a brick w/Mo under the basket........

While we are all complaining, let me add that I gave the folks at the gate a mouthful. They had all the doors on the right third of the front section (the nearest doors to the gate) locked. After someone opened them for me, I asked the gate folks if they were trying to prevent people from getting into the game. They didn't respond to my sarcasm. Then I said that I wasn't sure if the problem was laziness or incompetence. If this was the first time that this had happened, I probably would have let it go, but it happens frequently, even for games that are well attended. If you are having a basketball game -- please open all the front doors!

Quality customer service would have offered you a complimentary shuttle to your car.

The season ticket base is up this year, hence the no shows.

Cheap shot for a legitimate complaint. It's winter, it's cold - open all of the doors to the front lobby.

Exactly!!!! It is cold, why not have a shuttle bus circle the parking lots and pick people up?

On the bright side, the quiet crowd made it very easy to project from the Old Zone.

I don't think there were 6000 people there. There might night not have been 3000. It was the smallest crowd I had ever seen there for a game I attended.

Thanksgiving break games this year (Pine Bluff and Belmont) were smaller crowds for sure.

And how many times do the level-headed posters here have to reiterate that it is paid attendance. So scanners don't factor into the equation at all. Since I've heard we now have around 5,000 season ticket holders...you won't ever see an attendance below that.

Change the thread subject to "about average noise for 3,243 butts in seats"?

Not to mention...

1. There was nothing to cheer about
2. Students are gone and Athens is a ghost town. Energy in the Convo starts with students.

By the lack of posts about yesterday's game, the disinterest was high.

ohiobobcats.com lays the win to BIGMENZ.

Yep

BIGMENZ hit as many from outside the paint as the guards

In the paint were from O rebounds, not from "posts" - cause nobody can get them the ball in there........

All the more reason to do neutral site tournaments during the break along with a few big time away games to pay for them.

You apparently weren't here for the home Temple game two years ago. It was just a few days before Christmas, and it drew quite well and the crowd was very enthusiastic. It was one of the best attended games during a break period that I could remember. Old farts will get excited and cheer (and show up) for a quality contest. If the students had been in town for that game, it likely would have been a sellout, or very near one.

I'm ignoring the inane comments about shuttle buses. Thanks, Alan, for your acknowledgment of this as a legitimate issue. I will say that if Mrs. OCF ever opens a user account on BA, BTC is in deep trouble! ;-)

I was there for Temps. Big difference...they were ranked Top 25 at the time. Far cry from Alcorn State. Our fans do usually step up for big games - even the old farts. But trading baskets with one of the worst 10 teams in the country isn't likely to get the crowd on their feet.

Toughest place I have ever been was to accompany a friend to the Kentucky Deaf Festival in Louisville. First place I got caught was in an auditorium with a comic up front. It was obvious to him I was "hearing" and he, like any good comic took advantage of the obvious minority that did not understand sign language.

2nd place was being followed by 2 beautiful gals who kept motioning to me. Not being able to sign I quickly went round the corner and found my friend who translated. Seems they were Miss Deaf America and Miss Deaf KY and they were folllowing me to see if I wanted my copy of the Miss Deaf KY Cookbook signed. Ahhh welll. Language barriers.

Was not a mime convention but it was pretty quiet in that auditorium even with the laughter. Surreal experience. Eye opening.

Level headed fans pay off their bets. I'm still waiting for that beer at Jacki O's 28 with no Bobcat bowl game this year. You can run but you sure can't hide.

If I buy you a beer will you give it up, already?

You're approaching BIGMANZ on this.

EDIT: Tom McCabe did not work a football game this weekend.
