Poor strength of schedule be damned, it looks like CMU is a player. Opened conference play with a win at Toledo.

Sounds like they didn't shoot the ball all that well either (7-25 from 3). They did take care of the ball (4 turn overs) though. I was skeptical of CMU coming into conference play, but it looks like I may have been wrong. It looks like we get two of the better team in the West for the home and home cross overs again this year.

Also, I was at the Akron Western game last night (72-52 Zips). Western really missed Whittington last night.

I guess we'll see. Everything I saw indicated both Juice and Drummond had bad games, so that could add to it a little. Of course CMU influenced that with their defense. Too soon to tell.

I caught this game and kept thinking Toledo was bound to pull away, but CMU somehow pulled it out. Simmons and Fowler make for a good guard combo. Meyer/Scott are two freshmen who also caught my eye.

I'm not sure they'll be contenders...but they might be the most improved MAC squad.

Is is just me or has Toledo been fairly mediocre since they lost at Duke?

I think I jinxed them by saying something like "they'll run away with the MAC". It's only one game, but it seems I should give up on being a prophet.

By the way, the road team won 5 of the 6 opening conference games, including a couple of head scratchers (I'm looking at you UT and EMU...and I guess Ohio)

Yup...The overall average in pick em is at 34.5%! This could be a crazy year in the MAC where 11-12 wins has you in contention for the title.
