Well UNC-Wilmington is on big ten today against Minnesota so we should have a good idea of what they have to offer.

Hopefully the effort from those last two Hawaii games shines through. If Bean shoots reasonably well and NDour can avoid foul trouble, I think we should be able to win without too much of a struggle. That said, UNCW has had some respectable efforts this year. They kept it close @Louisville. That is probably their best road game yet. They did manage to beat VMI on the road, but I think VMI lost a lot from last year's squad.

Based on his game log, Freddie Jackson for UNCW seems to be a pretty darn good player. I'm guessing that Taylor & Laster will be charged with guarding him.

Their PG, Ponder, averages more TO's than assists right now, so that's a matchup we can hope to take advantage of.

They really only seem to have one big who is effective who plays a lot of minutes, so I'd hope we can get Mo, Tony, and Setty the ball down low a lot.

Per Sagarin I think Ohio will be favored by one or two points only, if that.

This is a very tough opponent for the last non conference game. Most schools pick total cupcakes as their last tune up before conference play. But I think this is a very tough game for us.

I saw their game at Louisville. They were very impressive there.

I doubt we'll be taking advantage of anyone's point guard this year. Stevie is the only legitimate point we have.

I'm not optimistic about this season but if we were to make some noise in the conference, Stevie would have to be in the mix. I'd love to see him turn this season around.

I'm talking in terms of creating turnovers. A guy who turns the ball over often doesn't have to solely be guarded be Bean or Stevie.

The problem is that we don't turn anyone over. Two or three years ago we would have eaten this guy alive but that's not us anymore. Ponder drives a lot looking to score which has killed us all year.

The lack of commentary on the game indicates that either everyone was at the game, or we played fairly decent.

The failure to achieve 75 points clearly falls on Sam Frayer.

My only comment is upon watching the first half, I had managed my expectations down to our being throttled in the second half, and boy was I wrong, thankfully. Nice effort in the second half by our men, and truly one of those "a tale of two halves" type of games. As hot as Wilmington was in the first ten minutes, they seemed to take the ice bucket challenge for the final thirty minutes.

Sam did a nice job on the boards in the limited seconds he was on the court.

That was a good performance. Dominant at home, and we out-rebounded a team that looked bigger at every position. The second half defense was stellar. It had seemed that uncw shot like 80% in the first half, but that's probably because they hit so many jumpers.

What caught my eye:

Ohio's bigs -- 38 pts, 29 rebs,5 blocks
UNC-W's bigs -- 15 pts, 20 rebs, 1 block

Maurice was in the paper talking about being "pissed off for greatness". Since I'm no longer hip - or never was - I don't know exactly what he means. But his attitude and performance in this game was greatness. I had a friend visiting that I took to the game and prefaced him not to expect much from him, that he would end up with 15 points, (10-12 in the 2nd half when he fully awoke), and that he would show a deference to teammates who are not worthy of that deference (in the interest of team). What he showed was a focus that led to his best game. He was credited with 4 blocks, but I thought I saw at least 6. He was looking for points, not assists, with excellent results and showed some real heart on the boards. If these league scouts ever show, they'll like what they see!

NBPA Certified Player Agent Brandon Hunter was in attendance on Tuesday. Ok, so not a league scout and yes obvious other connections but there are probably more eyes on Mo than we know. However, right now I don't think Mo passes the eyes test -- he has to start really dominating to get a legitimate shot at the League.

Probably, but not necessarily. Especially with someone so raw, teams have been known to take chances on guys who haven't dominated at their current levels. They tend to be seven feet tall, though.

I think Mo's NBA position is 3. He'll need to run the floor (check) hit an open shot (check - at least against UNCW),get a rebound (check), and defend other 3's like LeBron and Jeff Green (check?) Tony Snell is 6'7" skinny lookalike with the Bulls.

I don't think Mo has the ball-handling ability to be a 3 in the NBA.

Mo has more work to do than just his handle if he has thoughts of playing in the NBA; like 3pt shooting, consistency, needed weight gain.

I don't think his handling is that bad. I think he just needs to be more confident with it. He needs a little work but he's made a lot of progress. On a side note I like how Saul is encouraging guys like Setty Campbell and Ndour to shoot 3's. If they can get confident with that and hit them consistently we will be a very hard team to defend.

Mo is a superb player, I haven't seen enough from him to think that he'll really get a shot at the NBA.

Watching his ball handling in this video before he came to Ohio is when I got really excited about his potential.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XZW79IF8Wfk

There has been plenty of mentions that NBA scouts have been coming to see him (most recently the ESPN announcers during the Hawaii trip referenced this) so I think he is certainly on team's radars but obviously just because a scout is in the building that doesn't automatically translate into being drafted.

You always wish a guy had a couple more inches but I think he is just tall enough with great athleticism that he could be a fit for the NBA mold.

Mo has been clear that he wishes to develop his outside game. I don't think there's been an improvement from last year but I certainly think he has the talent to take that next step...

I think N'Dour has a nice mix of average and definitely some above average skills. His wingspan is excellent. Athleticism is one of his strengths and when he attacks the rim, he is usually pretty good. I love the dude so much because he'll get some blocks and play tight defense. Such an easy player to like and a classic Bobcat in my mind...just need to see what kind of legacy he leaves behind in his SR year.

He could be a 4 in the NBA if he were about 30 pounds heavier.
