zero rebounds, no good shot selection. Honestly the best players are Ryan Taylor and Mike Laster the rest are pitiful. Bean is occasionally good but jacks up ill timed three's.

It's a little concerning watching this basketball team. There doesn't seem to be any unity on offense or defense. Might be a long year.

Those are transferred we never expected to see this year. That's not relevant

Tough to watch. We have some individual talent but we aren't a good team at all. Just said this in the chat but we only have one guy who appears to care about defense at all and he's unfortunately not quick enough to make a huge difference. To win games we have to shoot lights out. Plus the basketball IQ of our team is pretty low.

Ugly basketball. It will be a long season. It's really not surprising, given all the comings and goings in coaches and recruits, last minute signings, etc

I knew it'd be a tough year, but I was thinking this team would finish around .500. That now appears wildly optimistic. This is a lower-tier MAC team.

So I probably shouldn't have watched Christian and BC yesterday to then see today's contrast in style, and I would really like to be seeing what many of you are apparently seeing, but in my eyes, we are really not a very good basketball TEAM right now. We may have some talented individuals, but I see a rudderless ship.

I can't make out an offense, very little emotion or discipline, passes are soft and without conviction, random shots with no one under the bucket and ZERO passion.

This team is harder to watch than the FB team during the last four FB games of 2013.

Rarely do this as a Bobcat fan, but had to turn this one off. UGLY! A few bright spots from Taylor and Laster that bodes well for the future, but otherwise agree with most previous comments, pretty lackluster. Went to the Evansville game and they appeared mentally into it, maybe first-person as opposed to TV, but little emotion today. Hope Saul can figure this out and at least make conference play interesting, but don't see much hope at this point.

That was one of the ugliest 2nd halves I can remember.

Ndour automatically gets triple teamed any time he touches the ball because we do not have enough shooters to stretch the floor for him. Tough to watch at times.

And I would just play somebody else at point guard. I don't care who.

I've pretty much written off this season. I'm not saying I'm not going to watch or cheer or support them, I'm just not expecting much. I don't know much about basketball, but I'm hoping this is just a matter of a coach having players that do not match his system. Perhaps that is why R. Taylor has been our best player. I dunno...but I hope we see improvement next year. Maybe one of you basketball experts can chime in.

Also, I've been thinking a lot about the Jim Christian hire vs. Saul. I'd like to think that with that situation, returning a sweet 16 team, that Schaus thought JC could keep the momentum. Maybe Schaus saw this as a rebuilding year, where he could bring in an up and coming coach and could give up a year or two toward building a new system.

We've only had two coaches (TOS and JC)come in and have a winning record in their first season in the last 70 years. Our two best coaches since the days of Jim Snyder, Danny Nee and John Groce, both had a losing record and compiled a worse record than their predecessor compiled the year before. If I recall correctly we lost Nee's first 9 or 10 games before starting to become a team. It takes time for players to get comfortable in a system and clearly we aren't comfortable in the one we are running now.

The analogy to a rudderless ship is a valid one. Last year our rudder was Nick. Someone has to step up and grab the bull by the horns. I don't know what kind of leader Ryan Taylor is but he's got my vote.

Anyone know what happened to Khari Harley (and the mythical Chandler Thomas) today?

We've got plenty of shooters but our ball movement is so gradual that it is way too easy to defend them. But your point is valid. There is a split second on nearly every possession where Mo is in good position to receive the ball but we never get it to him. Same goes for Tony.

On the pre-game show, Saul said Khari woke up and couldn't move. Thought it was a back issue.

Per Chandler's Twitter, he is home for the holidays and not in Hawaii.

Sorry, OCF. Not relevant, per DFC.

Gregg Marshall went 11-20 in his first year at Wichita State. He was a Schaus hire.

Groce's first season is what this one reminds me of so far. We'll be hanging around .500 all season unless/until it clicks during conference play. If it doesn't click this season, it will next year.

We are, however, seeing the fruits of the last regime's failure to seriously address the PG situation. #FireJimChristian

Exactly. Gotta walk before you can run. And right now, we're crawlin'.

Great post. I was going to look up those stats. I have no doubt Saul is the right guy. Wow. That second half was uglier than my Freshman Year prom date.

Chandler Thomas is not mythical by the way, he lives in my apartment complex and I see him on the bus a lot.

Please keep in mind that all of JC's recruits jumped ship, 3 or 4 in total.
This is truely a 2-3 year building job, which is why Saul has been saying since day one he is here for a while. No other school is going to even give him a look until things improve and even then he will need to put together 2-3 years of great results. He is not stupid and that is why he negotiated the kind of payday he did with our AD. Otherwise he probably would have looked else where.

Oh by the way, JC's current record stands @ 6-4, just about the opposite of ours.

And in typical JC form...he has lost to all of the decent teams BC has faced.
