Caught the second half of today's game against Morehead. Coach thinks Saturday vs. ECU will be a huge test. Apparently they are bigger and more athletic than any team we have faced thus far.

I'm a believer. Check how their stats compare to the rest of the conference. Top three in a lot of categories. They have about five or six girls who can absolutely bomb away from beyond the arc. Their last few games, they played without Jasmine Weatherspoon (she hurt?) who looked like a defensive force when I saw earlier games. Plus, they add the Michigan State transfer later this month.

Lots of weapons on any giving night for the ladies. Game plan is get it up the floor in a hurry, rain threes, or shoot lay ups. We have many players capable of knocking down the three ball so we are a challenge for defenses. We are not afraid to play defense and we go to the boards fairly well, even our smaller players can rebound the ball. As was mentioned elsewhere on this board, Curtis Simmons' daughter plays on the team and is very talented in her own right. The improvements over last year are immense and these Bobcats are fun to watch.

I was about to start a new thread about the ladies until I saw this so I'll add mine here:

"MEN AND UNBEATEN LADIES AT THE CONVO SATURDAY"

If you're coming to Athens for the men’s game at 2:00, consider making a day of it and watch the unbeaten ladies at 7:00 face their biggest challenge thus far against the 5-1 E. Carolina Pirates, their only loss to No. 22 ‘Cuse, plus a 13 point win against Wisconsin.

The 6-0 Bobcats have five blow out wins with one close call. This team is getting more fun to watch, they can run uptempo at times and are scoring over 80 points per game. Against Morehead on Wednesday, 6 players were in double figures and another had 8 points. But they’re dominance can be even more credited to their intensive defense.

So after the men's game, consider some of the good food and libations Athens has to offer, then check what could be the TAIL-end of a Cat twin killing.

I've no idea about the quality of the team we've played, but this is impressive.

So is the new coach that good, or the last coach just that bad.

This is where, if there were some semblance of a double header, I'd stay for both.

Here's one way to help answer it, by comparing the coaches in their games against Murray State this year:

Murray St. 102 Alabama A&M 81

OHIO 111 Murray State 60

Arkley's article on the game is at: http://www.athensohiotoday.com/sports/ohiouniversity/ohio...

BTW, here's a "did you know" about the Mess's man: he was an all-state football player at Miller......and can quote some Herman Melville as well.

Boldon ball.

Beat the LaSalle yesterday, now 7-2. Forced 24 turnovers. have scored at least 60 every game. Haven't let an opponent score 70 yet.

Not quite true... the women haven't let an opponent score 70+ in games that they won. They lost to East Carolina 76-68.

My bad. I quoted from the game notes on ohiobobcats.com.

That the bad news..the good is another W tonight over UMass, 59-52, to 50 to 8-2.

Boldon ball.

Boldon ball.

With today's W over Cleveland State (Cleveland is a state?), as many wins as last year and the MAC sched hasn't even begun.

I don't know the strength of the OOC sched, but the turnaround seems marvelOUs.

Boldon ball.

Realtimerpi.com has a section for women's basketball. Not counting yesterdays games, they have Ohio's RPI at 107 with a SOS of 197. Cleveland State (148) would be their best win RPI wise, followed by UMass (154) and LaSalle (159). The two losses came to #3 (James Madison) and #77 (East Carolina).

For reference, Ohio finished at 245 last year. Also, the ladies rank #4 in the MAC RPI, trailing only Toledo (65), Akron (75) and Central (78).
