Ohio (9-2) opens the MAC season Saturday at 1 (ESPN3) in Buffalo (7-4). The Bulls are picked 1st in the MAC East receiving 8 of the 12 1st place votes. The Cats are picked 4th but don’t bet on that to happen.

The women have equaled the number of victories they got last year. Their 9 OOC wins are the most in OHIO history.

The teams have no mutual opponents.

Bobcats take Buffalo 61-50 to win their 10th and start MAC play 1-0. The ESPN3 announcers, though, sounded like the Bulls' home duo throughout, even in the after game highlights.
Nicely done 'Cats! Solid defense and sound offense all game long.

You called this a while back, Oldkatz. I love the way our team plays - hungry.

Sweet start to the MAC season with a road win against a decent opponent and favorite to win the weaker Eastern division.

Three players -Byard, Lampkins and Black each shot 50%, going a combined 15 for 30 from the field with Byard going 5-8 from downtown. But it was a tight, intense, collapsing defense that kept the Bulls out of synch much of the game, despite their clear height advantage.

Ohio sits alone atop the East as the West won every crossover game.

Cats travel to Western Wednesday before coming home next Saturday to face Toledo.

Nice win ladies!

Glad to see the Ladies doing well. It's been quite awhile since the Women's team has been much to shout about. It looks like they have a better chance this year to win the MAC than the men's team. How long has it been since we could have said that?

Women topped Toledo 65-58 in a foul-fest today to ramp up their record to 11-3 and 2-1 in the MAC. 45 total fouls called and one official called about 90% of the Ohio fouls which were double the Toledo fouls in the first half and into the second. Two Cat starters fouled out and everyone logged good minutes. (Not a stellar outing by the MAC stripes today.)
The Cats overcame the foul problems and came back to control the game in the last few minutes. Boldenball is entertaining; you should try to catch a game.

The Ohio women (11-3, 2-1 MAC) are at Eastern Michigan tonight. The Eagles are 7-6, 0-2 MAC, with an RPI around 200. Ohio's RPI is at #85, third-best in the MAC behind Western Michigan (#64) and Akron (#68). The Zips and Bobcats both have losses at Western.

Boldon Ball.
EDIT: I should have started this off with a "Well Done!"

Now, if we could just convince someone, anyone, inside The Convo to bring back the old fashioned double header of men's and women's hoops in Athens on a Saturday so Coach Boldon and his team could have even better turnouts than they'll be getting with this success.

Double header coming up on 2/7. Men play at 2 and the women at 7. Admittedly, it's not like the old days' schedule but it is two games on the same day. It would be nice to see the second game start at 5 to hold the crowd. This is an entertaining team!

Central Michigan on Saturday is 4-0 in MAC play, but its four wins are against teams with three combined MAC wins. Still, they played a challenging non-league schedule and were competitive, so it should be a good one. Crystal Bradford leads the MAC in scoring, rebounding and steals and is fourth in assists and blocks.

Exactly - 2pm and then 5pm would hold the crowd. Or have the women play at 1pm, and the men at 3:30, get folks to go to both. For out of towners not staying in town, 2pm, then 7pm isn't the easiest thing to do.
