And someone just made a comment on one of threads about how there were not any good shooters anymore!

Wow! I've never seen 37 in a quarter but I remember a game in the Convo when Bubba couldn't miss and one in Cleveland during the MAC tournament when someone from another team was on fire. It just electrifies the crowd. Doesn't happen very often but when it does it's truly something special. Wish I had been in the Convo when Dave Jamerson went for 60 with 14 3's.

There are plenty of good shooters. This guy is of the new breed. Form is there . Sweep and sway, release, don't follow the shot, keep the hand in the shot, release from the index finger, right foot forward NOT squared up....and so on. That is what we are teaching now. Differs greatly from what we saw being taught 10 years ago. Looking at tape of grea shooters from 10 years ago....they shot like this...just were not coached that way.

Interesting the pro game vs HS and college. Guy only has to go to practice and get shots up. That's it. Guys SHOULD be great shooters. It is their job. It is all they have to do in the course of a day. No classes, no homework, nothing but getting better to occupy their day

The first day I was ever in Athens, Ohio was the day Jamerson caught fire. My basketball coach was an OU grad, and our team came to the Convo to watch a game. I was a Freshman in HS, and it was the first college sporting event I went to in my life. I decided that day I wanted to attend OU. It funny how electric an arena can feel when someone gets in that zone.

The tide is certainly rising. The NBA was at a low point in the late 90s/early 2000s and now it's at a high point. You're seeing a lot of guys who work incredibly hard and do very well. Kobe's work ethic is legendary, but there's also guys like Kyle Korver who have become unlikely stars in part because of how hard they worked to get better. I think the young guys coming into the league see what the current pros are doing and know they have to do it too if they want to make an impact. I do wonder if there's a trickle-down effect, how much college guys see that and follow accordingly (as much as they are able).

Social media has affected the college game to a degree. Guys talk about getting their "grind" on. I talk to the players directly about enjoying the game. If you ain't having fun son then find something else. If you see it as a grind you are approaching it ass backwards. You should be playing for the joy of it at the lowere level. When it becomes your full time job, the travel, work and daily peorformance may seem more like a grind. For now have fun and enjoy the game. Basketball loves those who love it. Have fun. WHen you're not.....get a job.

As far as trickling down....guys who worship and emulate pros spend a lot of time working on fadeaway jumpers based on mix tapes and "money"moves. They do not build their basic skills and refine their strenghs. Be who you are and do not try to be lebron or mike. I think guys with great work ethic, Kobe, steph curry and a number of others are quietly leading a revolution but when I see jr Hi and HS kids enamoured of themselves and modeling their games on the pros I laugh. There are 5 of them for every kid doing it right. Hoping work and work ethic is what we are trending to in America.

Do you think maybe they use "grind" as a synonym for "practice" or "lifting"? Hitting serves nonstop for an hour or two wasn't the most fun thing, but I did it because I wanted to get better. Sometimes, even the things you love most can be a little bit of a drag.

I went to the Cavs game last night, and basically anything JR Smith launched from 3 was going down (along with repeated alley-oops/dunks in between by others) and the Cavs were up 40 at the end of the 3rd. Then I got home and saw Thompson hit more in the 3rd than Smith did all game in Cleveland. It was impressive to say the least.
