Darrell Bevel whiffed on that playcall but let's not forget to give props to Malcom Butler for making that play.

If they complete it, we sing the praises of the mastermind unexpected play call.

No reason to throw other then a coach wanting to show everyone how smart he is.

Saw a quote on twitter last night about the same fans calling him a genius for the playcall going into halftime were the same ones crucifying him for the pass call.

I would have run it but that is not the way the Hawks have played it all year.

And why not make him the MVP? I get Brady had TD passes and high completion rate, but they probably lose if he doesn't make that play. Plus he would appreciate the red truck more than Brady.

Ken Ottrix was the original Chandler Thomas.

I don't understand how he didn't get more playing time. He was one a team woefully thin in the front court. Leon Williams and Jerome Tillman were it. We were so thin in the front court that Jeff Halbert played the 4 regularly. Why not just play the 6'9 Ottrix? Every time he got in the game in garbage time he looked pretty smooth for a big guy. Why TOS why?

Think about how ONE decision about ONE play changes the mindset of how a coach is viewed.

Belicheck could have "let Seattle score" to give Brady time to rally.

If he does and they win, genius. "He put the game back in Brady's hands..."

If he does and they lose, awful coaching. "How could you concede the lead..."

If he doesn't and Seattle scores, why didn't he do it? "He should've given his offense more time..."

Now, Carroll gets the criticism for the playcall. And did he make the call? The OC said he did, but if I'm the HC, with the Super Bowl on the line, I AM MAKING THE FINAL CALL.

I too thought they should have run but I've seen some legit reasons reported that favor the pass including he ran 6 times this year from the 1 and was stopped 5 times.

I heard the same thing, or virtually the same thing, on sports talk radio driving home last night. The Seahawks ran Lynch 5 times from the 1 yard line this year and he only scored a TD once. If that's true, the play called in the Super Bowl seems a little more reasonable.

The questionable play call is all part of a larger conspiracy, according to that "Fair and Balanced" news network.

Huh? Flipping through the channels last night I spent a minute or two on FoxNews, where two legal experts turned football experts were trying to explain how it was all a big conspiracy against Beastmode scoring the winning TD and possibly being named Super Bowl MVP.

All of which raises another question. Should TV viewers avoid this station for sports reporting in addition to regular news reporting?

I would love for them to have Lynch on Fox News to talk about it, but then he just repeats the same answer over and over.

I was surprised they didn't at least do play action. With a TO left they had the whole playbook open to them, so NE had to expect anything. Play action would've at least caused the D to think for a moment.

And let's not forget the bonehead offside on Seattle's D with the ball inside the one. If Brady takes a knee it's a safety, so they had to run a play. But the offside and subsequent personal foul took away any chance of them pulling off a miracle. I thought the mini-brawl was a perfect ending to an NFL season filled with scandal and controversy.

BTW, does anybody realize that this thread is on the b-ball board?

If they give the ball to beastmode , he scores .. look at the way he ran on the play before ....

If the the seahawks score and leave time on the clock , thy're winning and the patriots have to score !! .. you can't just score at will !!

If they throw there is a chance of an interception ..

score dumb dumbs and make someone else make a play !!

BANG !! .. oh baby what a bonehead play call !!
