Last night I went onto You Tube and watched a bunch of highlight reels from 2010 to 2014. Something I noticed IMMEDIATELY watching those highlights is the efficiency and on court IQ of Basset, Offut, Freeman, Kellogg, Ricardo, and Cooper. Not to say they didn't have flaws, but there was a lot of good passing and open looks.

I'm pretty confident that the upcoming seasons following this one will start to go back to that kind of play coming from guards and wings. Simmons, R. Taylor, Dartis, Block, Laster thus far all impress me as guys that are going to develop into really good players.

During this rough season, I'd encourage everyone to think of that, and just how much fun those 2010 to 2014 seasons were, because you have to believe more like them are coming.

To get you started, 2010:

Ha

you might want to forward this to all those Illini fans who say "what is our offense?" , There does not seem to be any offense" or "why do we never get open looks?"

DOH!

if you got no guards to initiate or them jack the ball before it materializes you can't run an offense.

Is it morose of me to wonder what would have been with D.J., Ivo, Walt and Reggie with Saul? Or even last year's team with Saul? I think those guys would have fit into his system of ball control, outside shooting and toughness so well. Why did we have to hire JC? I think we go to two straight tourneys with Saul with those guys. Saul with Nick and T-Wilk? Oh my! And who knows, Jon maybe doesn't quit.

A man can dream :)

When I see some of those highlights, I dream about what OUr team could have been with the Ivo that drove to the bucket. He had an exceptional college basketball skill set. I always thought when he, Walt, Reggie and DJ were seniors they'd just roll the MAC, beat a couple big name teams and be ranked by March Madness. Oh well....they were still the most fun years I've ever spent in The Convo.

Football season: my excuse to come to Athens, roll out a grill, music, lawn chairs, and drink beer in a campus parking lot on a great fall day.

Is that the same one that pulled the ball back over his head at WMU in the waning moments, got the ball blocked and ended up losing the chance to beat them? Thought about that play as I watched Mo dunk home a winner the other day. Kept it out in front and protected preventing a guy from blocking it as Howard did up in Kalamywazoo .

I am extremely surprised we haven't seen someone start a topic with the title: Fire Saul! Hire Boldon as men's coach!

Those same people would have fired Boldon last season so it's a moot point. : )
