Unless I am forgetting someone, I figure there are four serious candidates for MAC Freshman of the year this season.

Ryan Taylor - Ohio - 9.1 ppg, 2.7 rpg, 1.6 apg, 31.2 mpg, 44%/29%/76%

Noah Robotham - Akron - 9.7 ppg, 2.6 rpg, 3.2 apg, 30.6 mpg, 40%/35%/76%

Sean Sellers - Ball State - 12.5 ppg, 3.0 rpg, 1.4 apg, 30.0 mpg, 45%/45%/83%

Lamonte Bearden - Buffalo - 8.2 ppg, 2.8 rpg, 4.5 apg, 29.3 mpg, 35%/21%/79%

Sellers has the stats, Robotham has the wins. Ryan has had a few tough games in a row, but I think he still has a chance to get hot and make a run at it.

Has anyone else noticed how many really good Freshmen and Sophomores there are in the MAC this year? There are some really good young players in this league right now.

I totally agree. He's a major difference maker for them. A year ago, Arkon had PG problems galore. This year, they really have three guys that can get it done, with only one graduating.

Interesting how the coaching changes in college basketball last year have impacted not only Ohio's roster, but also others ! The point guard from Akron was being recruited at his high profile high school in Vegas by a number of schools, with the two leaders late in the process getting de-railed by late season coaching changes. One of the schools thought to be in the lead in the recruiting battle was Boston College but things changed as their head coaching position was vacant down the recruiting home stretch. Akron used some Vegas contacts to get into the picture late, and came away with a very good player who has really filled a serious void for the Zips. He gets my vote for Frosh of the year.

Is the award "Freshman of the Year" or is it "Newcomer of the Year"? If it's Newcomer then you have to make Jimmy Hall of Kent the favorite I would think.

Id guess those 4 plus LaMont from WMU or Meyer from CMU make the All Freshman team. I'd also guess Sellers win Freshman of the year.
