Monkey off back.

U of I DOMINATED overtime tonight (14-2) after JG played the last minute brilliantly with fouls to give. And his guys hit big shots down five.

Outscored the University of MIchigan guys from the end of regulation. I did not think they were going to score at all. Not sure how many but maybe 21-0 run before the bench players committed a foul with seconds left. Impressive after getting behind. Running offense but shots just did not fall and rb's not going their way. Once JG switched the defensive scheme under 7 mins left they got hot. Came back from down double digits in what was a 40 ish point game they took off.

I figured you were watching Borna. I didn't think UM was going to score again either, couple of free throws was all they got. I really like putting the big man on the in bounder, don't know why Saul doesn't do this in certain late game situations. JG played a big role in that W IMHO. Hope you and Mr. Coop are well, please let me know if I can push a wheelchair around the Convo at any time, I had some good practice last year when my Mom broke her leg Island hopping in Greece!

17-0 run actually from the end of regulation through OT. They didn't really do anything special but lock down defensively and didn't allow Michigan any good looks. Great move by Groce to keep fouling/wasting clock because Michigan wasn't in the bonus. They ended up turning it over then Illinois had a chance to win.

Mich did the same thing to Ill at the end of the first half. They had only one(!) team foul with under 30 seconds left in the half. They fouled an Ill player every four or five seconds. Ill finally got an open look with about two seconds left but it rimmed off.

And they took off because they created transition opportunities from defense. It's amazing what happens when a team can play good D and keep themselves in the game.

I liked how Groce put Egwu on the ball out of bounds at the end of the game. Reminded me of Ethan Jacobs against Buffalo in the MAC semifinals.

I also liked how Egwu made a steal in OT, stopped his dribble, and looked down the court to a teammate that got an easy layup (or was it a trip to the foul line?). THAT is an excellent example of basketball IQ.
