good move, I'm glad this game will be nationally televised in prime time, these two teams always deliver the excitement.

bit of a tangent but this is also a reminder that the MAC needs to do a better job of scheduling rivalry games on weekends instead of weeknights, playing Akron on Wednesday in Athens sucks.

Agree, but it happens all the time. Some ignorant people calling the shots up in Cleveland.

It's a shame that they don't also shuffle up the schedule occasionally. How many years in a row is Miami the last game of the season for Ohio? It's like the schedule making is something that gets cast aside up there, and they just use the same one year after year with no thought to TV or having big games on the weekends in February.

Your ire would be more accurate directed toward The convo.

We want Akron on a weekend because it is our best chance to really push the 12k barrier, but I think the Athletic Department is happy with it boosting the attendance of a weeknight game, whereas weekend games typically have big crowds anyway.

I'm waiting to see how this affects OCF's personal schedule before I decide whether it is a good or bad thing.

Well, since you asked my wife may have to change the date for my son's family birthday party. But, everyone is OK with that. So, you're free to make your own choice. Thanks for being such sensitive and caring person. I've really underestimated you in this regard in the past. I'll have to rectify that in the future.

Hope this team will keep improving and be a real thorn in the MAC East rivals down the stretch.

As someone who lives a few hours away, I would like to be able to point to a weekend conference game and say "I'll be sure to make it to THAT game." Usually, that requires the opponent to be Akron, Miami, or a surprise frontrunner like Toledo was last year. In my 11 years of following of Ohio basketball, we have yet to host Akron on a Saturday, and many regular season games between Akron and Ohio in recent years have had some sort of TV coverage. Could be a good showcase for the league.

Which is why I'd think that the fine folks up in Cleveland would try to put more games with the potential to be showcase games in the weekend slots. Scheduling is such a tough thing for the schools during the non-conference season. You would think that the MAC could at least try to think and forecast its best match-ups and get as many of the perceived best games on a weekend/TV slot.

The conference largely follows our wishes when it comes to scheduling. Schaus has stated he wants schools like Akron during the week because it boosts attendance.

Interesting. I wasn't aware of that. It would explain why the Miami game has become the staple for the last game of the year as well. Students are gone and the local fan base still comes out for the Miami game.
