Starting this weekend, you can begin the Ohio Bobcats officially licensed beer. Twelve-packs of the Athens-inspired Golden Ale, Ricky, have been packaged with the Attack Cat logo, along with a unique can design that pays homage to the brick streets of Athens.

Jackie O’s distributes to over 100 retail locations across the state of Ohio. As part of the initial roll out, we have received word that these locations will have Ricky available as early as Friday:

Athens

  • Kroger

Cincinnati

  • Jungle Jim’s (Eastgate and Fairfield)
  • Cappy’s (Loveland)

Columbus

  • Giant Eagle (Grandview Yard)
  • Giant Eagle (Kingsdale Market District)

Cleveland

  • Winking Lizard (Lakewood)

Dayton

  • Arrow (Kettering and Centerville)

Youngstown

  • Vintage Estates

Maybe for Dr.Suk ,director of the 110 ?

That's his nickname.

"Ricky" has been in the market for quite a while. According to Art, Ricky is the number one draft beer both in Jackie O’s facilities and statewide. I presume they didn't want to risk naming it something different, to confuse current customers or those who have had it in the past.

Though I agree, even changing to something like "Rufus" would've been simple if it's just for a short time.

It does not appear so, at least not at the front-end.

It's more a box than a label.

No Ohio branding on the can.

I'm a bit less than whelmed.

Absolutely agree. Disappointed but not surprised.

There goes any interest on my part. Why can't the university tie a beer to NIL fundraising? I know, for example, that the University of Cincinnati has such a partnership with a Rhinegeist beer here in Cincy.

When I saw this, that's exactly what I was hoping it might be similar to.

That would be Jackie O's choice, and right now, they don't need the OHIO community and don't really seem to feel like giving back. JMO
