Not too much context. Must have been recorded prior to Kuany commit. Freshmen are on campus, AJB still rehabbing and getting reevaluated in July for 5x5.

Pretty cool he’s attending Preston’s wedding this summer.

Kuany isn't signed yet, so Boals can't comment on him by name. I think he is allowed to say there is a verbal commitment.

Would have liked to hear something about the schedule.

Honestly Jeff sounded down in the dumps until he had a chance to talk about his family.

Didn’t like Boals tone about AJ Brown. Sounds like he’s a long way from being ready. Respect what Russ does, but for crying out loud, how do you not ask anything related to the schedule? Huge miss by Russ. Boals did mention talking to Hurley, Izzo and Moser about coaching his son. Maybe they also discussed scheduling a possible game? But who knows because Russ never followed up. This interview was a big nothing burger in my opinion. Nothing we already didn’t know for the most part.

He’s probably tired, finally filled the last roster spot just last week. Diving right into practices.

Echo what you and Fear said about schedule tidbits.

I had my grandsons in camp this week and I was in the Convo every day. I got positive vibes from the coaching staff and players.

Brings up a good point. Back "in the day" coaches had recruiting wrapped up in the spring for the next season. Summer was about vacation/rest/relaxing, getting guys individual work in the gym and weight room, and therefore coaches had enough "free time" to devote a couple weeks to the younger kids for youth individual and team camps.

Now I feel it almost has to feel like a burden. They're in the middle of juggling NIL transfer battles and cobbling together schedules and they have to hit pause to teach 7th graders how to play help-side defense.

It used to be part of a coaches salary, that they would offer, attend and teach at these camps, as it helps bring in some $$ and likely even helps future college admissions to some extent, but I wonder for how much longer coaches will be willing to do it.

Let alone getting pulled into some of the bigger premier camps like Five Star or Nike.

You make some valid points. I think the revenue will keep the camps going.

Due respect Jeff, would you expect them to be hanging their heads and sulking during youth camp?

Russ’ response to people asking why he didn’t discuss schedule with Boals.

Did anyone who attended a caravan catch any tidbits we don’t already know?

So now we're gonna bag on Russ for not asking questions about the schedule? He's an employee of Ohio University not a reporter, which means there are probably some things that he can't ask publicly. This was a scripted update not a press conference.

Fair, but has an office on campus and a close enough relationship to not rock boats asking questions Boals doesn't want to answer.
