In a hard fought battle at the Convo, the Cats withstood a 2nd half Bulls rally, cutting a 20 point deficit to just 3 before Ohio pulls away near the end.

Kiyanna Black, the reigning MAC Player of the Week off her “Black-out “performance in Akron, was a show stopper again, leading Ohio in points (26), boards (6) and assists (5). Mariah Byard and Quiera Lampkins, with 16 and 15 points respectively, helped close out the victory. Jasmine Witherspoon was a defensive force all night long.

In draining 9 3 pointers, the ladies break the all-time season record with 240- and counting.

With the win, the ladies (22-4, 13-2) are assured a semi-final MAC tourney game in Cleveland.

Really was looking like the second half lull was going to cost the ladies a win. That Buffalo coach was...animated...most of the night. I was shocked it took that long for her to get t'd up.

"Animated" indeed! For a while it looked like the Bulls were channeling their inner Joanie Weston* with all the elbows being thrown.
Very nice that it was Maria Byard who sunk the triple that broke the record. Her four years as a Bobcat have seen some pretty dramatic changes.

*OCF was a big Weston fan back in the day. He may still have the signed poster from the Bay Area Bombers.

It must be required that the head coaches at Buffalo whine and bitch after every call ! The refs were very patient with the Buff's head coach, but she finally got T'd up in the second half. She probably should have been given a couple more...she had earned them.

I sat right behind the Buffalo bench last night and got to hear almost everything the coach said to the refs, the assistant coaches, and the players. One of the most entertaining games I have ever witnessed. The facial expressions alone were worth the price of admission. It was fun watching the escalating admonishments the refs gave her throughout the game before the technical. At first shrugs, then hand motions, sort of like speak to the hand, then more direct "she was going straight up, that's why I did not call a foul" followed by stomping of feet by the coach, then more direct eye glares by the ref and then the sit down and give it a rest words by the refs to the coach.....then then after about 5 sit downs, then a technical. Just fun stuff.
It was my first game and for those of you who have not been this year, you are missing out. As one poster said, elbows, elbows, elbows. Both sides were giving and getting. In the first half a beef player went for a steal and caught an inadvertent elbow to the side of the head as she dove for the ball. She had to be helped to the bench. Probably should have checked her for a concussion, seriously.
The men's team could learn from the ladies: great, crisp passing, finding open players for shots, cutting off the passing lanes in split seconds, gutsy scrappiness and quick help defense. All in all a great game. It is obvious watching them why they have such a winning record. Just good basketball skills.

One more win or a Ball state loss clinches the #1 overall seed for Ohio. Last three games for Ohio are against the three worst teams in the league.

Unless she was acting I'm not sure how the beef player wasn't concussed. She was staggering and nearly fell down after the contact.

Great season for the Lady Bobcats! I know I probably need to worry myself more with how well they are playing and less with how our men are having a down year.

Here's to hoping their coach isn't hired away!

Gotta believe we're not going to be able to hold on to this coach more than another year...if that.

Well, BG held onto its coach longer than I thought they would. Maybe the women's world moves a little slower.

Indiana. He was doing well but quit for health reasons.

Agreed; he's the opposite of Saul in this respect. No interest in putting down any roots in the community. He's committed to getting out of Dodge at the first opportunity, if I'm reading the situation correctly.

This is pathetic.
