Sorry, I couldn't help myself. So many folks would ask about basketball season during football season back in the dark days prior to Frank that I thought the reverse was in order at this juncture. This is especially true after what I just witnessed --the worst game since the Wilderness Campaign. Given my warped personality this puts me in a very sarcastic and slappy happy mood.

At least you still have that club hockey team. ;)

I got pooh-poohed when I dared to suggest that maybe this year's basketball team was having a similar season to the 2013 football team. Most of the posters thought that was an overreaction and was wrong. I was wrong. The 2013 football team will wind up with a better season by winning percentage than this year's basketball team.

And Red>Green, suck it-maybe your club football team might win two games this year-good for you!

Mark, that 2013 football team had a winning record. And its win total (seven) is almost what this team has managed.

This team will end with less than a .333 winning percentage.

And fans. We still have those, too.

But I'm not surprised a Miami fan would bring up hockey in a completely out-of-place way. I'm also not surprised this is the first time we've seen a Miami fan on this board in about 4 years.

After the Miami debacle, I made the statement this team mailed it in.

Since then...5 straight losses.
Average margin of defeat: 14.8 Points

Hope the new guys can bring some fight back to the program next year.

I don't even like hockey, believe it or not. Just giving you a hard time. Isnt that what this rivalry is about?

You're the first person in a long time to discuss this as a rivalry. May I suggest instead gathering up 5 friends and increasing the number of people at Millett a little closer to 1000?

EDIT: Hell, I forgot, you guys couldn't even get 5,000 people to show up to honor THE LEGEND of your program over the previous quarter century.

As for football season, my question is, "Is it November 1, 2015 yet?" That's when the stink of this season will go away....hopefully.

Good point! I keep thinking that team was 4-8. Maybe it just felt like 4-8....

Anyway, this year can't end soon enough. On to 2015-2016!

Good on ya, OCF. That post on the football board always gets me a little hot.

Since I'm among friends here, I'll further admit that I don't understood the notion that "we're a basketball school", which is what seems to behind that football ambivalence. Kentucky is a basketball school, so are Duke and Kansas. Even with OUr successes over the years, I don't think OU pops into mind as a basketball school. This season will certainly reinforce that notion.

So, what's OHIO? Ask anyone outside Athens; we're a party school. ;)

I really think that next year will be a Football and Basketball Renaissance. We will have a whole bunch of experience and talent back from football and I still feel that while we may be two years away in hoops we are surely going to be a contender for the MAC right out the gates with Kaminski and Simmons alone along with Dartis and Block.

Renaissance...remember that when we're 10-2 in football and 22-10 in hoops!

+1 I've made a similar prediction a while back. I'm going to stick with it.

12 basketball wins would be a renaissance.

I'll answer my own question: Yes, it is now officially football season. Spring practice is in full swing and Spring Game will be in just a few more weeks. I'm going to be watching r-fr Maleek Irons particularly closely. I think he could be really great RB for OHIO.

You're welcome to your appreciation for spring practice. Football starts in late August for me.
