My dislike of Keith Dambrot is well documented. But the achievement he got out of his teams over the past 13 months in light of knuckleheads coming and going and the illness and passing of Coach Peters is tremendous. And the comments he made regarding the unfair image of the conference and the at-large chances for Buffalo were candor we'd love to have more of. I've got to tip my cap to that.

And I'm kind of happy for Buffalo. They've been suffering a long time. If you put Hurley on a spectrum from reserved to insane, I'm not sure he's not all that much further out there than Groce was. And most of all, his players believe in him.

Miami still sucks.

Hurley is a jerk but I do believe he is a good coach. I've gotta believe someone will snap him up and I wont be disappointed if that happens. Buffalo will be very good as long as is there. He is even less well liked than PJ Fleck and he might be a better coach.

Miami still sucks.

Nice...my sentiments are close to yours. Another kudo for Dambrotaparte for his classy behavior after losing to Buffalo. Lots of hugs of Beef coaches and players and took time to talk to several. And that after the Beef showboating at the end.

CMU beat them twice by shooting well from three. I think Buffalo has the best chance to win a game or two and they had never been to the tournament before. I don't have any issue with Buffalo. I don't have an issue with anyone but Akron. I hate it when a team is rewarded for recruiting thugs.

I sense the thug quotient is on the downgrade at Akron. Hope I'm right, I'm not certain.

We don't need or want thugs at Ohio, but we could use some more sandpaper.

I also have no respect for Bobby Hurley and agree with the poster that said he isn't a good coach. He is a very good recruiter and does a nice job of motivating them. They won purely on swagger which Central for some reason didn't have. Hurley will be at Seton Hall soon enough and will fail miserably there. He will alienate the other coaches there and those coaches are a bit tougher and wiser than most MAC coaches.

As for Dambrot, I also despise him more for winning with turnover every year but also for having thugs on his team at all costs. But he is a great coach and I respect the job he's done. He's the kind of guy I hate on Akron but if he were at OU I would love him.

He's a bad coach, but he can recruit and motivate, two of the most important things in coaching?

Watching Dambrot a couple of times this year I almost felt like I was moderating my disdain for his style and win at all costs attitude.

Watching Bobby Hurley I find myself increasing my already high level of disdain for his on court demeanor.

That said, I need some of the BB-IQ type discussion to convince me that the high regard for Buffalo by the sports pundits is warranted. Maybe it is because I just do not want to admit that Buffalo and its coach deserves that much love but I just didn't see it.

Did you attend the SUNY@B game in Athens? I thought the Bulls' game management was solid and they even drew up a play that got a decent shot up w/ less than a second to go that would've won the game.

I thought the Bulls game plan was solid last night, especially considering Moss had a bad wheel.

Their #12 seed in the upcoming tournament says he's at least an acceptable in-game coach. I have a hard time believing that one of the best in-game on the court leaders in college history is in over his head as a x's and o's coach. I really dislike his antics but that doesn't cloud my judgement. Hard to fault the results.

How does this make him a bad coach? Especially if you say he is good at two of the most important things?

That is kind of a hateful way to respond. So much for expressing an opinion and trying to have a discussion about it. I, admittedly, do not like Hurley's antics on the sidelines and I honestly don't know if his star is lit because of his coaching skills or because of his connection to the Coach K. I want to know what others see, not just be told I am wrong because someone else says so.

I hope for the MAC that he is the real deal but I don't think I will ever really like his courtside manner. My personal preference does not lean towards histrionics. To be clear, I wasn't fond of that part of Coach Groce's coaching style but I was still glad he was our couch.
