I feel bad for Tariq.

Tennessee should have had more foresight. Tyndall hit the trail fast from Southern Miss.

It's amusing that Tennessee fans commenting on that link want to bring back Pearl. Uhh... you just fired a cheater and you want to hire another one?

I don't feel bad for Owens at all, he let his handler/AAU Coach repeatedly lie about the transfer to make Ohio look like the bad guy. And I'm sure its all a big coincidence that the coach that lured him out of his commitment to Ohio just happened to get fired for offering improper financial benefits to recruits.

You reap what you sow.

This gives new meaning to "One and Done" I guess. It's almost like UT has tried to completely _uck-up it's Mens BBall program. They might actually try vetting the next candidate.

Tariq seemed like a nice kid that was very excited to be playing for Ohio. I can imagine a youngster in his position could be easily impressionable to an AAU coach trying to make a name for himself.

If I were to guess, I think Gregg Marshall will be UT's first choice. They mentioned on last night's WSU/ND broadcast that Marshall is open to listening to offers.

Tariq didn't sow his situation though. He committed to Ohio and then the circumstances changed. I have zero problem with him rethinking his situation under those circumstances. Sucked for us but so what. He bought one thing and we delivered something different.

It would be interesting to say the least to see arguably the two best recruits (Owens and Wigginton) who chose different paths after JC left both end up at a program looking for a new head coach after just one year.

Seems as if it's more common these days for situations to change than it is for them to stay the same.

ut will not hire TOS. A coach from Bryant College with an all-time record as a HC of 196-234? I live Tennessee (and personally can't stand ut's athletic program and refuse to pull for them in anything) ... and would LOVE to see them explain that hire to their fanbase. There would be a complete meltdown over it. Chernobyl would pale in comparison. Fans of Kentucky, Georgia, Vandy, Alabama, Florida would get a huge kick out of it though.

How widespread is the disrespect for ut-knoxville's athletic department?

At least as far away as Ft. Wayne, Indiana...

quote:
"It’s one thing to see Brad Stevens leave for the Boston Celtics or even Holtmann for Texas; those are acceptable from a public relations standpoint. But to lose Holtmann to a mid-level and unstable SEC program is a dose of humility that will be a challenge to swallow for Bulldog fans."

I hope this meme never dies, and I hope someone new makes a post like this on every one.
