We could have had eight had Toledo and Akron been willing to play.

Would they have taken one of our other berths though?

Doubt it. Kent, BG, and EMU had already accepted bids before Toledo and Akron were out of the tournament.

That's too bad. I really don't get that mentality.

Toledo coach pretty much said his kids wouldn't care about anything lower than the NIT. Then again they didn't care about the NIT when they were in it last year

EMU loses to UL-Monroe & WMU loses by 30 at home to Cleveland St, but Kent wins comfortably at Middle Tenn.

BG, Kent & Buffalo remain...1 in each tourney but the NIT.

Jeez, by THIRTY at home? That's embarrassing. Shows why we need UB, Toledo, and Ball State to elevate or keep their teams at a high level. The directional schools just aren't getting it done enough.

Who won the conference last year? This year?

The Western loss at home is very disappointing.

I didn't watch or even research the WMU game to see what the deal was.

But it makes me wonder less now about the Akrons & Toledos turning down post season opportunities now. They must have known it was NCAA or bust. Or maybe NIT too, but you get the drift.

Ohio has done the same in certain past post seasons. Certain guys on the team don't want to play post season, some even say it in the papers, we play anyway and it shows.

After a fine regular season, the post season performance of MAC teams has been less than scintillating.

Bowling Green''s season ended ignominiously with a blowout loss at home to a mediocre Canisius team

I believe the overall record for the MAC is now 3-5 after Kent State struggled to put away a mediocre Corpus Christi team. The Flashes are the only MAC team left now.

Hard to understand the postseason struggles, unless it could perhaps be influenced by the brutal grind of the conference schedule...

Yeah, I agree on the small sample size with the postseason. Also, most of these games have been road/neutral games rather than at home, though the two worst losses were home losses.

Would still have liked a better performance by MAC teams.

Some teams are really not focused on a non-Dance post-season tourney. We came out flat in the NIT a couple years ago, due in part to the last-minute trip to Denver but also due to the letdown after the Sweet 16 the year before, tying for the MAC regular season title and then settling for the NIT after being blown out by Akron for the MAC tourney championship.

And some teams just don't take the minor tourneys seriously. We beat T'erd in the CBI(?) a few years ago largely because T'erd players weren't focused on the game; they were clowning around during warmups and just weren't ready to play.

Agree that some teams lack focus in the post season if it's below NCAA.

Of course, they did that in the regular season, too.
