Probably not going to go for another Thad disciple.

That's a lateral move for him. I think he probably has his eyes set on a bigger step up.

Agree that it's a lateral move. And, this season and last, the MAC was considerably stronger than CUSA.

If Major was paid approx. 450K, do you think the offer to Hurley would be around 600-700K? If so, it's an upgrade on Buffalo, but I'm not sure it's enough of an upgrade to make a move.

Plus, I know Hurley went to Duke obviously, but there he lived in a so-called "Yankee Enclave" in Durham. How would he fit the culture in Charlotte?

There are a lot of northern transplants in Charlotte; OU has a somewhat large alumni presence there. I don't think culture would be an issue.

Yes, they'll go $600 - $700. One of their big needs/wants is to better connect with the "towers" - the businesses uptown. His Duke background would help tremendously there. Don't know if he as the personality to do that, but the background is sound.

Even with a lateral move, I would do it just for that reason.

Charlotte is throwing all of their money at football. They need to try to bring fans back. They averaged 4700 last year in an arena that seats 9000 and used to fill up regularly.

I could see Hurley using Charlotte as a chip to get more money from Buffalo but I would be shocked if he took this job.

The three names:

Hurley
Will Wade - UT-Chatt. - http://www.gomocs.com/ViewArticle.dbml?ATCLID=207651661
Pat Kelsey - Winthrop - an Ohio boy

Hurley has name, but Wade may now have inside track. Shaka tree.

I wonder if his Buffalo buy out will doom any Charlotte type move, similar to soon to be declaring for bankruptcy Geno Ford.

If not, he should take the Charlotte job if offered. If he can put together a few 20 win seasons with them the ACC and SEC will come calling for sure. Right?

Pat Kelsey would be an intriguing option for Charlotte.

When discussing the dollars for Hurley, recall that he's being paid a percentage of home attendance money over a certain figure. I was thinking it was 300,000 that I read as that attendance figure.

I could see moving laterally to go a place like Charlotte instead of Buffalo.

I also read somewhere that LeVelle Moton from North Carolina Central was a possability.

Will Wade turned them down. http://www.cbssports.com/collegebasketball/eye-on-college...

I'm a bit surprised by that.

Mike Young of Wofford will probably be the main target now.

Apparently they are negotiating the price with Mark Price of the Hornets. He is a former Cav.

Interesting. Theey will be able to make buckets - he is an outstanding (and highly respected) shooting coach.
