I'm writing this via cel, so it will be a tad choppy.

Saul's comments:

*Coach Phillips was his usual engaging, energetic self. He reiterated his desire to stay in Athens long term. He said it's no secret Ohio is the best job in the MAC and he is honored to sell recruits on the Ohio University experience and education. an easy sell once they visit campus.

*He had very warm comment on N'dour, whom he thinks will play professional ball for a long time. Ditto on Stevie, whom he credited for working hard and admitted it wasn't easy being coached by third guy in four years. Said he will always be a Bobcat, and a highly regarded one.

*mentioned next year's senior day will be short but sweet. Tree is due to graduate this summer then begin grad school. impressive.

*said Ryan Taylor played through mono this year, which sapped his stamina. I missed this info if it was common knowlege. looking for big jump this year.

*Same with Tony Campbell, continued improvement on 10pts 8 reb. soft hands and big bodies are rare.

*mentioned the scout team with two transfers outscored the first team in practices. Not always, but not once either (my words based on impression I got)

*was excited about the five new recruits. Two first team all state. probably 3 if Taylor doesn't bang up his knee.

*thinks things are on the major upswing. much sooner than later.

*reading between lines said we might be scheduling home and home with Big Ten team. would NOT elaborate. didn't get impression it was in state team. left me wondering Illinois? I can't see Wisconsin after two Final Fours.

*said OOC schedule is gonna improve rapidly. way to get to next level is playing big time games. said 3 contracts are on Mr Schaus' desk, a surprise to our AD? nice!

*said he will do much more things like dining hall pep talks, easier to do with a stronger win loss record. said humorously. he loves the passion undergrads have for the program.

Mr Schaus said we are looking at a hanging scoreboard for Convo. I THINK he said videoboard. not 100% sure, but I can't image hanging scoreboard without video.

Lots of positives here! Can it be October yet?

(only in the basketball sense though - I like summer weather too much)

Good info...thanks! Maybe Nebraska or a lower tier B-Ball school like Penn State or Rutgers?

That's what I was thinking. Selfishly hoping it's Maryland.

Either one of PSU or RU is a nice home and home. I'd suspect Saul's connection to Miles would be the likely one though. I'd bet no money on it being Maryland. :)
