Thanks for posting this. I know this is quite a financial and time commitment, but I wouldn't mind seeing this caravan expanded within the state and even in certain markets outside of the state. In fact, I even think charging a nominal fee ($5, $10, kids free) would more than make it worth it to meet the coaches and get some food and pop.

I know that here in Chicago a few years ago, there was a similar event to meet Coach Christian. But due to severe weather here, it was postponed and ultimately never re-scheduled.

I appreciated the effort to reach out to Bobcats in Chicago.

Interesting - no foray into 695's region in Parkersburg or anything in the Ironton area either.

tough to beat free Montgomery Inn ribs and chips. I loved this event last year. I'm bringing two friends this year, who both travel to see Ohio MAC tourney and postseason games with me.

I'm very fortunate the event is the day before I leave for Florida. whew!

I'm sure that DC, Chicago, Charlotte and Pittsburgh would all be good out-of-state locations...Starting with DC of course!!

For those that are able to go, I'm anxious to hear what you find out about Kaminski's updated status.

Well, thanks for that passive-aggressive "I know something you don't know!" post.

I don't know a thing. I'm just referencing the recruiting forum and the last couple posts in this thread, which could really be nothing:

Or, maybe they could say that Kenny will get three years in Athens?

No worries. I'm just hoping Kenny gets those three seasons in Athens. Good stuff from the caravan last night in the other "review" thread!

I went to the Dayton event. I was talking to Saul when Solich/Burrow were speaking so I didn't hear much about football. Sounds like there will be no P5 home-and-homes starting this season but down the road. Marshall series will resume. Other than that, not much info on the schedule.

Doug Taylor rehab going very well. Saul mentioned that they may have to slow him down to make sure he doesn't try to come back too quickly.

Kaminski considered a junior from eligibility standpoint.

Dartis may get a look at playing some point guard. Question is defensively. Says they'll know right away because if he can stay with Simmons he can stay with anyone.

Just very high on Kaminski/Simmons and recruiting class. After a year in Athens, even more in love with the job.

Football did get a preferred walk-on LB Austin Clack from Tippecanoe. Trained/recommended by same guy that sent them Ouellette. Hoping for similar outcome.

I saw Tipp play the last 2 years. They have been pretty solid. Vaguely remember this kid. Look for more coming out of there as they transition to a tougher league

The Kaminski subject may never die. Websites say Soph, coach says Junior. I'll believe coach, but it is kinda funny.

I'm anxious for the Columbus edition of the Caravan in a few weeks!

Columbus Caravan notes:

- Not as big attendance as recent years - maybe 75

- Schauss not there - was at the baseball game (which they had projected behind the stage - score was 1-1 the entire time we were there! Need to check and see if we won...

Phillips:

- Wadley really suffered from Crohn's syndrome LY. Has put on 35 lbs of muscle since end of season

- Simmons is the clear leader. Simmons and Kaminski leading and pushing the team off season workouts etc.

- Simmons will bring a "wow" factor

- 4 pretty solid starters/core (Simmons, Kaminksi, Campbell, Taylor/R) - next 4 to 5 will battle for time

- High on all the incoming class

Solich:

- Value of the bevy of returning experience cannot be underestimated

- Last two seasons of injuries are the worst he has seen in 40 years of coaching

Me:

- Once again I win a door prize in the drawing!!!

Direct quote from Saul on Simmons: "He's an alpha dog who has seized control of the program..."

Also says schedule almost done. Will be a good one, keeping in mind that Ohio will be a young team. However, if team plays the way he hopes, "you'll look at the upcoming schedule a year from now (16-17) and think I'm crazy..."

More Frank on injuries: About half dozen groin injuries still aren't healed and is concerned that in some cases, these injuries may keep guys from playing...

I also liked his openness to answering my question about the potential of redshirting one of the 5 freshmen given that he has a full scholarship roster of 13. He said that it could happen that a frosh gets a redshirt year once the picture of who will be playing the most sorts itself out. He said almost every 22-23 year old is going to be better than an 18yr old and play more. As noted above, he's really excited for the competition on the roster for PT after the top 3-4 guys.

It's great to hear about Wadley's progress. I hope Khari, RTaylor, and Laster have all been able to add some muscle as well.

I think this team will be really solid by the time January rolls around and everyone has had the chance to define roles and gell.
