He probably wasn't really expected to drafted following the season, but he was one of the standout players in the draft camps, which most top players avoid going to because they are afraid they won't do well. He dominated on the defensive end.

I had no idea this was even a possibility, but I'm excited to see it.

BG friends of mine actually thought he might get picked late first round according to ESPN guys.

Yeah, he majorly improved his stock in the last couple of months. First round I think was a stretch, but early second round isn't bad, although it offers no guarantees on a contract.

Seems like an odd place for him to go. They've already got 6 or 7 guys 6-10 or taller. Their first four picks were all on centers and power forwards.

I was pretty surprised to see him drafted. He flew under the radar in the MAC despite being one of the best players for a couple years.

Equally surprising and intriguing was Larry Nance, Jr. Didn't Ohio offer him out of high school?

I thought Holmes was a hidden gem in the MAC the previous two years. But he was mainly like that because Orr didn't know how to play or utilize him properly, but Jans certainly and obviously did. Holmes was a MAC POY candidate, is very versatile and was a pleasure to watch. He was only at BG for three years and I know the Falcons wish they could have him for one more year, but thankfully we won't have to see him again next season. I do wish him well in the NBA, it's always nice to see guys from the MAC at the next level.
